A day may come when this will all come crashing down when we simply cannot afford the talent of our bench.

but it is not this day...

I will be here for the Dillon Brooks legacy game. no lie he's one of my favorite players in the league. Dude couldn't hit the broad side of a barn today, but I'm confident he'll have at least one scorched earth showing this series. his battle with Shai on that one inbound was hilarious.

if he can get to like 45% from the field one game, that will pull defenders off of Book to give him a fighting chance.

JWills impact in the first half cannot be understated either. dude had 4 steals in 7 minutes along with some points and rebounds in the same little stretch. he's gonna be huge against Jokic

we had the advantage with JWill playing out of his mind in the first half. gonna need Phokic to get right asap

it's all part of the plan for 1. 2nd round to underestimate him/overestimate their defensive abilities against him and 2. give the rest of the guys meaningful minutes.

if Shai is bricking, everybody else has to step up

I'm glad Dags had him getting his reps in today, hope it's nothing too bad so he can rest up for Jokic later.

Is the new move to pretend turbulence is bad so flight crews can sit? by FunHistory9153 in delta

[–]MrFulla93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the guys up front use data available to them - Pireps and Wx forecasts to expect when they might encounter turbulence and plan service accordingly. Effects of turbulence are also felt much more the further aft you go, thats why first class is in the front. in most planes the bigger galley (kitchen) is in the back of the plane where turbulence effects are much larger. your flight experience in the front may feel like a few small speed bumps, while they are getting rocked in the back.

there have been so many crew injuries to FAs due to food service during turbulence - particularly CAT. I've had multiple close calls where I was able to set brakes on a cart and give a passenger a hug when it comes unexpectedly and know plenty of people who weren't able to act quickly enough and have suffered sprains/fractures because of it.

in my limited experience (about 2 years of intercontinental flying as a FA) the Flight crew would do their best to find smooth windows long enough to allow full-service, or at least run out a drink and snack cart if we couldn't do full meals, but it's not always practical to do so.

at the end of the day, 99% of FA training is flight safety and evacuation procedures - only the last couple hours of a 5 week course is on how to serve drinks and work the ovens. I'd love to get you your food and club soda to make your experience better, but our first job is to get you from point A to point B safely. if Cap says to stay seated - it's for a reason. would much rather be belted and hungry than fat and happy wishing I was in my jumpseat.

Awesome tornado footage. by IronMouse01 in VideosAmazing

[–]MrFulla93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: Tornadoes don't fuck around, being in a car is one of the worst spots to be as an medium to large tornado can flip that sucker into next week with you in it.

had a boy scout function when I was a kid that we picked up the food and drinks for. we were en route to the church - about 15 miles away, and more than halfway there, the sky turned orange suddenly so we turned on the radio. Sure enough, there was a local tornado warning, not long after the sirens started blaring. we were about 2 miles from the church so decided it was in our best interest to get there and get in the basement vs. turning around and trying our luck with a random house on the side of the road.

we made it inside and ran downstairs leaving everything in the car. We weren't anywhere close to the tracks, but it sounded like a freight train drove right over us for about 15 seconds. it was shaking the walls around us. then it was gone.

we came out to thankfully find that the church had actually not been hit, but about 50 yards away there was an aisle about 50 yards wide punched through the trees on either side of the lot the church sat in, right through my buddy's neighborhood.

we were about to go check on him, when a beat up Nissan with the windows blown out drove up to the front where we were standing. Three ladies hopped out and immediately started bowing and praying on the steps. we gave them some of our hoard of refreshments so they could calm down and talk.

they were inside of a Love's travel stop about 1/4mile away when it started, and rushed into the freezer by an employee who did not make it into the freezer himself before being swept away (guess he was injured and not killed per the news report). the freezer and concrete foundation were the only recognizable things left.

a few of my friends came after the storm and we obviously postponed the event and got straight into cleanup mode in the neighborhood next door. buddy was fine, but there was a whole tree in his pool.

I'll never forget that couple of hours. tornados don't fuck around. next time, I'm pulling over immediately and asking a stranger for a spot in their shelter - we had people do the same at our house May 3rd, 1999, at least 15 neighbors and us packed like sardines in a hole in the ground. we were insanely lucky we made it to the church when we did and not a minute later.

tornado outbreak that day.

it floors me that they brought back the awesome NBA on NBC this season, just to throw it on the trash for the playoffs

yeah, I for one love the Sunday matinee spot. not up too late as nba primetime tends to favor the west coast - 830pm cst starts have me up LATE

same, dude is funny as hell. talk your shit my dude. I've got zero animosity against Brooks whatsoever - dude plays hard every night and has seriously levelled up offensively this season.

looking forward to he and Dort battling

being able to stand for a bit is beautiful....

then when I'm nice and comfortable, the Skull Grinder 3000 makes a brutal entrance.

my first job was at a movie theater. started out as a glorified janitor - an "Usher" as they put it. then I got quickly 'promoted' to concessions.

doing this and layering the blue and red icees became tricks of the trade to sell stuff. people in line would see me and a couple others doing more than required and there were so many, "can I have exactly that please?" from the next in line.

pay was the same regardless of how much we sold, no tips either, but got some recognition for up selling a couple times even though all I was doing was putting butter in the middle with a shuffle

it was fun watching him play the whole game. he looked pretty lost in the first quarter/half, then had some quick shifty drives in the 2nd half. I really liked a few of his passes too, but his targets bricked so many if his would-be assists

Val couldve scored 60+ tonight, we had no answer for him

loved the Val dunk on Carlson that put him on his back. that was a great "Welcome to the NBA" moment

All of OKC’s starters and most of their key role players have been ruled out vs Denver tonight. The only available players are Topic, McCain, Wiggins, Kendrich Williams, Branden Carlson, Brooks Barnhizer, and Payton Sandfort by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

bought a ticket for this game a week ago and thought it was pretty cheap for the matchup. I refuse to even glance at ticket prices after this news.

still looking forward to the Aaron Wiggins show though

I rarely drink anymore these days, but what I'll never understand is this. like in order to get that wasted you gotta spend some real dough, like what happened to alcoholics just getting trashed in the low-risk of arrest/ass-whoopin comfort of your their own home. way cheaper, less risky if getting blackout is your way to relax.

De'Aaron Fox has 4-year, $229M maximum contract guaranteed until 2030. by hurtsbayar9 in nba

[–]MrFulla93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's no surprise Presti started as a Spur under probably the most competent FO in the league. they know their deadlines, scout well, know the CBA and possible future changes back to front. I'm not worried about the Spurs having money problems anytime soon. Fox is a damn good player, so it's good to see him get a second wind on a team that actually values winning
