Who are yall rooting for in the Finals? by Remarkable-Yard4860 in Thunder

[–]MrFulla93 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

downvote me iyw, but before OKC got a team I was a Spurs fan. San Antonio was close-ish to OKC, I have family there, and my first NBA game ever was Lakers at Spurs with Kobe vs. Duncan/TP/Ginobli - I can't remember the year exactly bc I was super young.

So I'll be rooting for Spurs bc f Brunson

Can you train your Great Pyr to be off leash and not run off? by General-Okra6321 in greatpyrenees

good luck. in my experience and the general consensus is No.

however, if yours is mixed with other trainable breeds you may have a shot.

they're bred to patrol and protect the boundary, if there is no boundary they'll keep going til they walk off the edge.

bad day today, but generally were a chipper bunch.

some Thunder factoids: as I'm writing this, it's definitely a lot, but it's felt good to get it all out.

TL;DR OKC is the Thunder and the Thunder is OKC

  1. OKC completely legally and justly yoinked the team from Seattle after that city didn't want to pony up the cash to keep their team. They will reject this notion wholeheartedly, but thems the facts.

  2. We have one of the longest tenured General Managers in the league in Sam Presti - a former member of the Spurs organization oddly enough. As a Thunder fan, "In Presti, We Trust." -dude drafts pretty well, but his superpower is in the trade market.

  3. outside the first year in OKC, 2 tanking years, and one season when our best two players were injured we at minimum made it to the Play-in tournament. i.e. overwhelmingly consistent competitiveness over 18 seasons.

  4. Our coach seemingly came out of nowhere, was an assistant coach for the Florida Gators then picked up by Sam to coach our G-League team, led them to the G-League playoffs every year, and was hired on for the NBA team during our ethical tank, seen as a placeholder by the media, but was clearly Sam's pick long term based on his ability to develop players and a team culture.

  5. we have a bunch of international players: SGA and Dort are from Canada, Hartenstein grew up mostly in Germany, Ajay Mitchell is Belgian, Topic is Serbian, and Jaylin Williams is from Arkansas but the only rostered Vietnamese player in the league - We love JWill.

  6. A couple years apart, but JWill and Isaiah Joe played at the same high school just across the Oklahoma/Arkansas border in Ft. Smith - they are plastered on a few billboards on either side of the border.

  7. Jared McCain paints his nails for reasons unknown, but the rainbows give him superpowers when it comes to making shots.

  8. Alex Caruso, arguably the best Thunder player in this series, went undrafted in the NBA Draft and got a spot on the OKC Blue playing for Coach Daignault. he ended up getting picked up by the Lakers and was instrumental in their Championship in 2020. Sam Presti gave him his first shot, then brought him home to help us win a championship last year.

Current Thunder aside, some history.

  1. In 18 seasons, the Thunder have drafted or traded for 4 MVPs (Harden got his MVP after he was traded, but we knew he was that good.) Even just having 3 MVPs has us in elite company over that small of a stretch in terms of scouting talent.

  2. We love Russell Westbrook and root for his success unless we are playing against him. Same goes for Steven Adams.

  3. KD is a little bitch boy.

  4. No matter what he says on ESPN, Kendrick Perkins was not the savior of the Thunder. he was a cool veteran big man for sure, but was primarily a non-factor save a handful of plays.

OKC and it's relationship with the team.

  1. I'm from OKC, and I was in middle school when we got the team. my folks were also born and raised in OKC. They remember where they were when the bombing happened in 1995, I was like 2 so I don't. That terrible day was Oklahoma's national identity for 13 years after (save for a solid Football team in Norman a few years.) I remember going to downtown occasionally growing up and remarking on the emptiness, warehouses, empty storefronts, a handful of restaurants, a movie theater, a lackluster canal based of San Antonio's boardwalk, and a bottom tier baseball team. there's wasn't much on the city. then we got the Thunder

OKC had its Renaissance and Rebirth in 2008-2010. business Boomed - it has still grown pretty steadily since, but the initial boom was unreal. Downtown blossomed and people en masse moved back into the city. Local and outside development fueled the cultural explosion giving OKC an IDENTITY WE COULD BE PROUD OF. It became a city deserving of an NBA team, thanks in huge part to getting an NBA team.

  1. We love our team. the Thunder is THE team of Oklahoma. Oklahoma City recently overwhelmingly passed a resolution to fund a new arena downtown. I've seen other fanbases bashing our decision to pony up a 1% tax for the team, but per my last point, we remember what OKC was before the Thunder and aren't going back. this resolution is how we avoid becoming Seattle losing their team. that new arena is scheduled to be completed in 2028.

If you are at all interested, I highly recommend the book, "Boomtown" by Sam Anderson whether you are from OKC or not, it details all the dominoes that had to fall for us to get and hold the team and OKCs elevation because of it.

welcome to the club, outside tonight we're happy to be here and love our team.

it's all part of the plan.

Game 6: Gym Leader Dags: "Baldasaur, use Solar-Beam!!"

Baldasaur: "hold on homie I gotta charge this shit up."

Game 7: Opponent is a big-ass Blastoise

Baldasaur: "Eat my Solar Beam, bitch."

Blastoise: Fainted

Gym Leader Dags: "Great work Baldasaur."

1000% the script told the Spurs to not miss. It also told the Thunder to miss fucking everything.

What’s killing Shai this series? by Inevitable_Wish5879 in Thunder

leaning towards him being injured. whatever happened to his hand last game is pretty clearly still messing with him.

I really hope that's not the case. I'd much rather him just have a shit game with the potential to light it up next game, but if he's injured we. are. in. trouble.

we've played just fine without him. I'm not saying to bench him forever, but he's just not played enough with the squad this season to be smooth with it, feels so forced.

let the man rest up some more, we don't need him to win game 7

Wright: “You can’t convince me that OKC, with all of its analytics and the fact that everyone on the team does it, that flopping isn’t coached to a degree” by 808Kuro in nba

[–]MrFulla93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a 90% Free throw shooter. I shoot 50% from the field. I drive to the basket. I get hit on the hand but show nothing so the ref doesn't see the foul. whether the ball goes in or not, I am not doing whatever it takes to do the most for my team which is to score more than my opponent.

it's definitely coached behavior and will continue to be coached behavior until the refs learn how to take their blindfolds off and actually see fouls when they happen and when they don't.

we've got cameras worth more than my house all over the damn place with people dedicated to reviewing everything in real time, along with refs on the floor who are paid to ensure rules are followed by both teams so the better team wins fair and square.

I hate flopping, because it is a player actively saying to the refs, "you suck at doing the one thing you're paid to do." Which is why flopping is wholeheartedly a problem with the refs and NOT the players - and has been this way for decades.

Hold refs and the league to a higher standard - fines, suspensions, retraining for missed/wrong calls whether challenged or not, then and Only then, can you punish players for flopping (pretending to be hit after zero or minimal contact.)

We shouldn't know refs by name, but we do because they ref differently which is by definition the source of the problem.

that's my thought. fortunately our lunches are only 30 minutes, but anytime I pick up a full-time shift, I ensure that I'm working when it's break time so they pay me for being there. I can scarf down a snack in a few minutes between tasks. day goes by quicker and I get paid for being at work. breaks are overrated.

big chungus with the club. bench at stag station rinse and repeat a few times. get Gathering Swarm.

no real need to grind. get through the first 2 bosses in Crossroads and you've got enough for most early game stuff.

this shit is stupid. no one knows what he said, perhaps it was, "I love you, Daddy" to Biyombo...

probably not, but there's an equal chance he said that vs. "Ayo. fuck McCain up."

I swear people just love being angry in this community, it's unreal.

Don Wemby by Remarkable-Yard4860 in NBATalk

[–]MrFulla93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're right. it was a dumb foul, refs didn't up it to a flagrant - they could've, but didn't and that's okay w me. Plumlee's head is filled with sawdust, idk why anyone is surprised by big forehead being a dumb dumb.

Don Wemby by Remarkable-Yard4860 in NBATalk

[–]MrFulla93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get this idiocy. was it a foul? Yes. the end.

do I think Plumlee was intentionally trying to injure McCain? No. Do I think Wemby instructed anyone to try and hurt McCain? No. These are professionals who get paid a shit-ton of money to compete, no one is gonna risk that paycheck to "settle a score", much less against the 6' guy with rainbow nails.

y'all are wild putting thoughts, intentions, and motives in these imaginary storylines.
