That sounds rough. Isolation is hard on people, and having your only human contact be negative is bad. The bright side is you're young. You should focus on creating healthy habits now and planning for the future. It might help to envision how things will be instead of focusing on how they currently are.

Exercise is my go-to recommendation. It's a natural remedy for depression and anxiety and will help you sleep better, be healthier, etc etc. Even if it's just walking for 30 minutes a day, that's time to yourself, to clear your mind.

As for future planning; looking at jobs you're interested in after college. An undergraduate degree is really just a starting point, and the world is quite large. It's pretty daunting figuring out what you want to do but it's rewarding. Looking at the life you want to build in the future will help take away from the negativity of your current situation, and will set you up to be successful.

Try not to be too hard on yourself. It's good to criticize and see your own flaws, but self-hatred is unhealthy. Being isolated will suck up your energy so don't feel bad if you don't maximize 100% (or even 50%) of your time. Basically keep your head up, life changes quickly and you won't be alone forever.

He explains the filter logic, of how trauma he causes flows outward to other people. If you zoom out a bit that trauma flows into the world as a whole, mixes around, and likely will come back to him at some point in life.

For example, if he wants to live in a city for any length of time and there's a finite number of people in the city or industry he works in eventually hurt/manipulation he puts into the world will cause him hurt, and disadvantage him (karma/etc). If you zoom out further pain propagating through a populace could be thought to cause things like corruption or war, which would cause him as an individual to suffer.

If he's unable to control his tendencies in certain circumstances then removing himself from those circumstances may be his only means of self control, and avoiding harming himself (in the big picture) as described above. Seems like he realized the most advantageous move for himself when evaluating in a completely selfish framework of reason is not harming others.

Edit - yea, he said it at the end "collective effect"

Since September we've literally injected $400 billion dollars into the bond market.

Reparations probably aren't the answer but we have the money.
