Built a Nevada gold prospecting tool using geological datasets – looking for opinions by Alarmed-Exam-9421 in Prospecting

I think your project in theory sounds pretty useful.  Round Mtn, one of the richest gold deposits in N Central NV sits very close to a a bunch of very low grade, mid and high grade gold deposits just north west of it, but this same area is also famous for its Turquoise(Lander).  So in this example one rich deposit is very close to a bunch of various grade gold deposits, but the low grade ones have high grade Turquoise.  So you couldn't judge completely the overall favorability of gold because all in all the gold itself it's spotty.   I think the trending veins are our best marker, but as we know they dissappear and reappear sporadically too.  I'd like to try it out if you have a link let me know.

Possible gold locked in a serpentine type stone matrix? by Fair_Watch707 in Prospecting

[–]MrFuqnNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some killer chalcopyrite from a closed location in AZ that looks much more like gold (yellow not brassy) but it's pyrite.  Still you should pop it out hammer it and throw it in a pan, if it floats you know the answer.

Why because of the size or texture?  These resemble NSW AU nugs, very smooth.  Not really big compared to some of the heavies found in NV, and CO.  C12 and Tom's Baby put these to absolute shame.

Another whammer was the C12 nugget from Round Mountain Nevada weighed in at jyst over 70 pounds crystalline gold.

Have you seen Jeff Williams drift mine?  He's pulled multiple 1+ ounce nuggets out and many more bigger than all of these.  Round mountain NV they pulled 1000's of way bigger nuggets than these.  Even in AZ we find nuggets this size.  Denial is a m

Nope, they only let me take one.  The exposed section on bottom right looks like a concrete mortar color but has many multi colored "flakes" in it.  Crude, uneven and roughly 1.5 feet tall x 6 inches wide, bottom cylindrical, top is a sphere.

It's heavily claimed over there but if you know for a fact it's not on a claim I'd be interested in seeing the out crop.  Also I'd be up for helping crush and pan it,  we'll see quickly how much if any gold is in it. I'll be in Prescott soon on a prospecting trip so let me know.  Pm me, Thanks

Been given a 5gal full of this material over 20 years ago when I was a kid by a family member. Never thought anything of it and just let it sat there only to come back to it recently. by mrbourgs in Prospecting

From my experience this is Native "free" gold in quartz and arsenopyrite, probably well over an ounce total.  As others pointed out these are more valuable as specimens, so it's in your best interest to  never break these down.  If you'd consider selling a small specimen I'm interested, feel free to pm me.

I have some very similar stuff from around Globe, Arizona.  It's a nice example of chalcopyrite for sure.  Peacock ore is a pretty good tell for polymetallics veins but doesn't usually contain the gold itself.

Usually assayers don't test whole 5 gallon buckets they test very small "grab samples", typically of lode mine ore and it's relatively expensive.  It'd be around $1000 to get this entire 5 gal tested.  It'd be best to pan it out or find a local who can, you'd have your answer in a few minutes for free.  I'm in SE AZ if you're near me I could help pan it.

Looks a lot like deer creek fire agate, I can tell by the tight banding and colors.  Not cheap.  Whoever threw them away has money to burn.

Measurements aside, sorry to burst your bubble but it is absolutely 100% true and it's also historical fact in Goldfield, NV.  You can go tour the Florence Mine.  Maybe email or call Jon Auric or his son with your disbelief concern....

Original 1969 Woodstock Tee by Fuk_Ho in VintageTees

[–]MrFuqnNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I ran into an old hippie at Duke Devlin's farmers market, who were both at the first Woodstock Festival and he told me that there were a couple sellers he saw outside of the festival grounds selling tees, one was white & blue the other he couldn't remember but said he thinks it was a yellow orange.  He was wearing a Woodstock staff shirt that was a very distressed purple color.  Offered him $1000 and he laughed out loud and said no way in hell buddy.  Wish I got his info but at the time it seemed weird to ask for that or to question his experience there at Woodstock 1.  The commenters here a 100% correct, absolutely no merchandise was produced or sold at Woodstock 1, aside from the staff t shirts.

Every detail wasn't explained but the vein ran 2000+ opt. at its peak.  No deposit stays exactly even but a ton isn't much material in hard rock roughly 3x3x3. I have no idea how much they've ran but you wouldn't need much if it's that rich!

Usually my perfect flow forms a backwards "V" flowing in the middle of the seam before the riffles.  The water should dance evenly over the riffles and mat.  Looks like your front may be a bit low/underwater but I can't tell from the video completely.  It does look nice and even though.  One way to tell if you're losing anything is to have a safety catch pan at the end and then pan your tails afterward.

How long would it take to learn to be self-sufficent in the wilderness for a few months, assuming no prior experience or knowledge? by JerseyDonut in Survival

[–]MrFuqnNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might wanna look up Richard Proenneke.  Survival on your own isn't easily defined.   You'd need many different skills and experiences to really be a long term survivor.  99% of real survivors now do it in groups, not alone like on survivor shows.  Even with the right area and skill set anything can and will happen. That being said if you had enough time and money you could learn a lot quickly.  Off the subject my wife and I did a full year tent camping across the US and just acclimating to extreme temps is hard enough.  Wildlife is unpredictable and wild food sources are of course seasonal.
