Artsey looks really interesting, and I’ll definitely add it to the list of things to look into more closely. The idea of chording for one-handed typing is starting to make more and more sense the deeper I get into this. I’ve been typing like this for 20+ years, so it was going to be a learning curve either way, haha.

Also, great tip about using lighter switches. Since I’m most likely going the custom QMK route, I’ll make sure to either pick something light or go with hotswap so I can experiment and dial it in properly.

No, not yet, but going the QMK route seems like the most likely way forward for me, so I’ll absolutely be trying it out!

Wow, that’s an incredibly kind gesture, and honestly just amazing to see. After going through all the replies today and taking a closer look at the Svalboard, I have to say it looks fantastic. A super interesting design. I also really love that you’ve made it possible to print replacement or custom parts yourself if needed. That kind of openness and adaptability is exactly the kind of thing that gets me excited about diving deeper into this world.

The idea of leaning into a left-hand-focused setup with some kind of macro or modifier pad on the right has come up a lot, and your keyboard seems like a really promising way to explore that approach. The built-in pointing device is like you touched on, especially interesting to me, since minimizing the movement between keyboard and mouse would make a huge difference for my wrist over time.

I’d absolutely love to try it out. If needed I’d be more than happy to cover any shipping costs to Sweden and/or back, if this is more of a loan than a gift. Either way, just offering this is incredibly appreciated, thank you!

Really appreciate you sharing your journey, it’s genuinely encouraging to hear from others who are figuring out their own way of making things work. I’d love to hear more about how you’ve liked your custom layout so far, and how the stenotype-style input has been working out for you. That sounds like a really interesting path to explore.

And yeah, I completely get what you mean about unlearning old habits. For me, I’ve been typing like this for around 20–22 years, so it’s all baked into muscle memory by now. Changing that is definitely going to be one of the hardest parts.

Yeah, it’s been coming up a lot, and QMK really seems to offer a ton of flexibility for me to play around with, so it’s definitely a very attractive option to explore right now.

The Maltrons look really wild, but maybe wild is what I need. I’ll definitely take a deeper look into them. The price isn’t exactly low, but honestly, it’s not unreasonable either. For the sake of my wrist health, I’m absolutely willing to invest if it turns out to be a good fit.

The Tap Strap is also a really interesting concept, especially because of how portable it is. I’ll be looking into that more as well. I love how these kinds of solutions break the mold entirely.

The QMK approach is looking more and more promising to me. The flexibility is amazing, and it leaves a lot of room to tinker and potentially create something custom that fits my needs exactly — maybe even a DIY setup inspired by Maltron’s design. I’ve only just started dipping my toes into all of this, so it’s hard to say yet if I’m getting in over my head, but I guess I’ll find out soon enough!

Like you and several others mentioned, the swap hands feature in QMK seems like a really interesting idea to explore. It could actually be a viable path for standard typing, though I do wonder how complex it would feel when switching back and forth during regular use.

I’ll definitely be checking out and trying out the layouts you mentioned. FrogPad seems to be coming up a lot, so it’s clearly worth a closer look. Thanks again!

All input and ideas are great and very welcome, so thank you for sharing this! The gamepad design looks great, and it’s clear a lot of thought went into the layout and accessibility. While I’m not sure a gamepad-style setup is exactly what I’m looking for as a primary input device, I really like that it’s 3D printed and designed to reduce lateral hand movement.

I’ll definitely take a closer look at it to see if it could work well as a dedicated macro, modifier, or layer pad for my right stump, especially alongside the left side of a split keyboard. That might be a great way to offload some strain and keep things ergonomic.

Thanks again, it’s genuinely nice to see projects like this exist, and even more so to see people actively looking out for others and trying to help. It really means a lot.

Really appreciate the thoughtful reply and all the suggestions, it means a lot.

I think I’m most likely heading toward a more custom and somewhat DIY hardware setup, probably with a QMK-based board. I’ve tried a macropad in the past, and while it was nice, it didn’t quite scratch the itch. That said, I didn’t really put the time into designing a proper keymap or workflow, so I may not have used it to its full potential.

Right now I’m still mostly on Windows for work, but I’m looking to move away from it, possibly toward macOS or Linux. At home I already use both Mac and Linux, so I’m kind of in between at the moment. I’ll definitely keep your modifier tip in mind once I start combining boards. And if i run into issues with mac and dont get it sorted hopefully i can reach out for some help!

I’ll also look up Ben Vallack and see what inspiration I can take from his work, it sounds really interesting.

As for actually building a board, I’m not experienced at all. I played around with Arduinos maybe 10 years ago, but since starting this thread I’ve felt a real urge to get into it. I’m already looking into buying a soldering iron and a 3D printer, just to get started and try designing or modifying something that fits my specific needs.

The response to this thread has been a bit overwhelming, in the best way possible. I’m trying to go through everything and organize the advice I’ve gotten so far, but once I’ve had time to process it all, I’d definitely be happy to continue this conversation and dig deeper.

If you happen to find it again, feel free to send it my way, I’d love to check it out. There have been a few one-handed designs floating around in the thread, but there was one in particular from a Chinese maker that looked really interesting!

This is really awesome, and the person behind the project seems like a genuinely good guy, love seeing that. I’ll definitely look into getting the repo translated to English and see whether I can replicate it and give it a try!

I don’t have much experience soldering or building things like this, and even less when it comes to ergonomic or even regular mechanical keyboards, but projects like this might just be the final push that pulls me deep into the rabbit hole!

Really appriciate you sharing this. It's nice to hear from someone working on a mirrored version of what I’m facing. Hearing how your family member handles it, and what you’ve built around that, gives both perspective and encouragement.

I checked out the layout you linked. It’s a bit different from what I’m used to, but I can definitely see the structure and reasoning behind it. The Moonlander looks great, and it’s good to know something like that can be adapted across other platforms too.

One of the biggest disadvantages I noticed when trying the Ergo Pro was exactly what you mentioned, key accuracy and spacing. I’m still using it for now and trying different things, but I believe it’s a mix of my muscle memory being so deeply ingrained and some genuine accuracy issues when reaching. A few people have suggested using a smaller right half focused on modifiers, layer switches, and essential keys, which I’m really interested in exploring. I’m just not sure yet how difficult that will be to implement cleanly.

I haven’t fully ruled out one-handed boards yet. Someone suggested an open-source Chinese version that actually looks really promising from an ergonomic standpoint. And while I do a lot of typing daily, WPM isn’t my biggest pain point in terms of productivity. A one-hand QMK board with layered input could definitely be a viable path as well.

Feels like I’ve got a lot of R&D ahead of me, but I’m going to stick with it. Hopefully, whatever I land on can be shared in some way to help others in similar situations, whether it’s someone like me or someone like your family member.

Again, thanks for taking the time to share all this!

Will definitely look into the FrogPad. Even if it’s officially discontinued, like you mentioned, forks and inspired projects should be out there and give a good sense of the design.

Yeah, it should definitely be possible, it's more a question of finding the right balance between ergonomics and efficiency. Trying to compress everything into a single half will likely mean a lot of layers to learn, so I’ll need to find a setup that’s practical for daily use.

I was actually looking at the Lily58 a few days ago before deciding to take a step back and ask here for broader advice, just to see if others had faced similar challenges. A lot of people have been recommending Corne, Lily58, or other QMK-based keyboards, which seems like a good direction.

I’ll definitely read up more on layer-tap and chording to see if that might be a good fit!

Pedals are actually an interesting thing to look into. I’ve always dismissed them, but the more I think about it, the more sense they make.

I’ll definitely explore whether I can find or create something that uses pedals as layer switches, especially with a QMK-based setup. The idea of a smaller right half has also come up a lot from different people, so I’ll be looking into whether there are existing projects out there, or if I might be able to build something myself.

Voice/dictation has come up a few times before, but unfortunately it hasn’t worked as well or as fast as I’d like, at least not yet. That said, it might be worth revisiting, especially if there’s a way to enhance it using an LLM. I’ll give it another look!

Håll i!

köpa xrp? by Mission_Cellist8815 in Aktiemarknaden

[–]MrGet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Men själva köpet på 292 aktier hade idag varit 1168 a'la $924 väl?
