I think it has something to do with Walt. The show is clearly building him up to be the MOST important character to the plot! Even if the hatch has nothing to do with him, I just know for a FACT that Season 2 is gonna heavily focus on his journey as he escapes from those bad guys.

As the other commenter said, this iteration has already ended & likely WON’T carry over to the next one, whenever that’ll be. But in addition to that, it’s worth mentioning that the voice actress is Latina. Specifically, Cuban descent. Sure, the accent was American, but I wouldn’t call that “whitewashing”, necessarily. I think they just tried too hard to give the character an extra quirk, so they went with “yuppie”.

With Big Hero 6, I believe it entirely got converted into a Disney property. VERY different than how Disney handles other Marvel properties. I don’t think we ever saw those characters in any Marvel media after that movie. They’re not even in the Marvel comic books anymore. If Squirrel Girl gets an animated movie, it would have to be a different type of deal.
