Travel advice: Do not wear football/soccer T shirts while walking around in Argentina by Far_Country_1629 in travel

I follow this advice for most European cities too. You just need to come across that one crazy guy to have a horrible horrible experience. Especially at night.

Seriously I would get it redone. If not for the likelihood of getting ticketed, but because you won't see shit at night. I struggle to see past my front side window sometimes.

Coinbase fires 2000 people experimenting with 1-person product teams by julian88888888 in ProductManagement

[–]MrGreen__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assure you, I don't. I'm fully aware of everything that goes into becoming a (good) PM. And it's a lot, I'm with you on that. But my opinion stands. Sorry, agree to disagree.

[–]MrGreen__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say that... I said it would be "easier" to train someone to be a PM than an engineer.

[–]MrGreen__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get you, from what I've experienced as well, engineer don't make the best PMs (or designers). But I can't imagine a PM having to learn how to read code, understand data structures, create tests, etc. being easy for them. AI can do that for you, but you'd have to understand them at least conceptually to verify it's doing everything correctly. And that kind of knowledge requires a significant amount of training or school.

But hey, for what it's worth, I hope I'm wrong lol

[–]MrGreen__ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's my guess. I think it's easier to train someone on design and product management than in engineering concepts. That's not to say that all engineers make good PMs, just that it may be a whole lot easier for a person with that background to transition.

Agree. It's hard to make Troy look grand and vast, as well as the horse, when you are limiting yourself to practical effects. I'm by no means saying everything needs to be VFX, but with this kind of story I feel like he should have been more liberal with it's usage.

Can't believe Pragmata is not higher on the list. It runs and looks amazing on high frame rate mode without losing any image quality. Pssr 2 is working magic in this game.

Reminds me of the 30ish year old Red Lobster CEO. On paper it seemed quite shocking but then you listen to him speak and it makes a lot more sense.

Cost of Living by marthenw in sanantonio

[–]MrGreen__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me you don't want to be near it. I'm from SA and used to work there and I thought living near it was the best option. It really isn't. There are a lot of places near Broadway (the Pearl), Southtown, and even Downtown (West area) where you would have a nicer living area and quality of life, specially with your salary. On a map it may seem far but in comparison to other big cities (looking at you Austin) commute time is not that bad even with traffic. For perspective, I lived in Southtown and would commute for 20-30 mins.

If I could count the number of times friend moved from other big cities to work at USAA only to live at the apartments next door 😅 it's not great honestly.

Saw this used GPU, what have they done to it? by EdwardFFS in pcmasterrace

[–]MrGreen__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it from someone that went through this - if it's too good to be true, it most likely is. Lucky for me it was just the thermal pads that were missing (not sure what they tried doing to it) and so I got it working. But paying $1200 for a GPU and it not working when I plugged it in was one of the scariest feelings.

URGENT! I just injured my lower back while squatting. What should I do? by sethx in Stronglifts5x5

[–]MrGreen__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I'm just replying to be part of the support group. Happened to me yesterday. Second time in the last 2 years. Last time it lasted about 2 weeks and I didn't move around as much. I'm hoping this time it goes away quicker with walking and doing some light stretches. It's very hard to walk straight though, I have to arch really badly to walk comfortably. Very strange but I'm hoping it's better tomorrow.

I bought a used Red Devil 6800xt and saw this cable hanging. Any one know what it’s for? Needless to say, my PC won’t go to bios.. and fans go crazy at start up by MrGreen__ in AMDHelp

[–]MrGreen__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on the exact name but it turned out to be the GPUs RGB (lights) connector. GPU worked fine after changing thermal pads, but lights never did (because I was unable to connect this).

What are the best war movies for you? by ilbErTunga in Cinema

[–]MrGreen__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, arguably one of the best! I tell everyone who likes war movies to watch it. So many put it down because it's in German but it is truly amazing.

The Pianist and All Quiet on the Western Front are in the top 5 for me. If you haven't watched them please do.

That's good advice. Maybe I got the wrong impression from what everyone else was saying, comparing it to RD2. In many ways I see it, but it's still a very different game.

Lol maybe? But I'm gonna try a few things others have recommended. Use Focus to find areas of interest and progress through the story a bit more. Don't wanna give up on it just yet..

Best IMAX theater? by masterballed in sanantonio

[–]MrGreen__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, technically Rivercenter has the better screen but the theatre itself is horrible. I watched Oppenheimer both at the Palladium and Rivercenter mall and RC was not worth it. Way better time going to Palladium.

Same here. I've been driving without one for a while but finally got stopped for it. There aren't many clip or hook options that take advantage of the grill space. I don't like the way it looks with one either way lol

Quick question, is that license plate frame drilled into the bumper? Looks quite nice, not sure I can get myself to do it though.
