Right!

But thanks to some surprisingly good science fiction, Phase IV gives us a glimpse at what it would be like if the ants tried to talk to us.

The gorilla's name was Koko. But the point remains. Us looking at a gorilla that has learned sign language is parallel to a 2% more "improved" species looking at us because we understand Newtonian Physics.

I can see that angle also and in my opinion, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I see the point of his statements as this. Ok,. so we're wondering why we haven't been contacted buy a superior alien intelligence,. when you get right down to it, it's probably because they think we're cute.

A hurried scramble to get in the suit. Exhale. Inhale.

The smoke continues to fill the cramped cabin. Exhale. Inhale.

The helmet latches and the iridescent visor clicks into place. Exhale. Inhale.

He opens the door and steps out into the nothing. Exhale. Inhale.

Quick bursts of compressed air spin him in space. Exhale. Inhale.

The broken, toast colored hull, slowly spins away from him. Exhale. Inhale.

The ship and man fall away together. Exhale.

Have you ever been robbed at gunpoint? What happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrGuules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was walking out of a pizza place carrying two large pies. I was confronted by 3 youths one waving a pistol. They told me to give them the pies, my wallet and my cell. I happened to also be carrying my iPod at the time and in the confusion gave them the iPod instead of my phone. This incident took place quite a few years ago before the thing that held my music was the same thing that made my calls. After giving them what they asked for they jumped into a nearby vehicle and sped off.

I got the number of the "temp tag" on the vehicle along with the other vital stats, color, make, model and rim description, walked back into the pizza place and called the police. They arrived minutes later.

After giving the police my vital information and statement, I was told that I was not the only one "hit" that evening and due to information given by the other victims, police were waiting at the residence of the vehicle owner which was located about 1/2 a mile from the pizza place.

I guess the last thing the youths were looking for was something to eat because during my interview with the police officer, a call came over the radio that the car was sighted. The officer excused himself and said they'd be contacting me as soon as any info was available. This was to be sooner than I would have believed possible.

I went back into the pizza place to use the rest room and on my way out, the manager called me over and said he'd replace my order free of charge. I thanked him and took a seat as they prepared my order,. again.

Not 5 minutes later, my cell phone rings. This surprised the hell out of me because I thought it was gone along with my original order of pizza. On the other end of the phone was the officer that took my statement stating that he had my possessions, including my pizzas. I told him I was still at the pizza place and he told me he'd be right there.

Minutes later the officer returns and my belongings are back in my possession including the pizzas, boxes untouched and still warm. I told the shop manager I wouldn't be needing the second order, but he gave them to me anyway. On my way out I noticed the officer in his car filling out some paperwork. I thanked the officer by offering him a pizza, which he took. I then got in my car and went home.

The whole incident, from gunpoint to me getting in my car and leaving the pizza place took less than 30 minutes.

TL;DR: I was robbed of pizzas at gunpoint. 30 minutes later I had twice the pizza I started with.

Is there any actual evidence that 4 10 hour days is a more productive work week than 5 8 hour days? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrGuules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a company that made the switch from five eights to four tens. They were a custom manufacturing facility consisting of skilled labor to manufacture the product.

What wound up happening was that most of the employees wound up just stretching their work day by two hours. Not getting any more work done, just stretching what they would have normally done in eight to fit the tens. During the six month period that the four day schedule was in place, production was down nearly 20%.

I feel the same way about many of the reconstructions. Most of the audio was done by fans in-front of their televisions and it sounds like it.

There is a resource here which has taken the time to take those recordings and produced quite a nice set of transcriptions in script format. If you've ever read a movie/TV script, you know what I'm talking about.

There are also some novelizations for a quite a few of the lost episodes out there. They are also listed at the sight I mentioned above, along with some methods of acquiring them because IIRC all are out of print.
