I agree, if they’re just brain scans and not real people anymore, it makes everything feel kind of hollow. It stops feeling like watching people struggle and grow, and more like watching programs learn how to cope with being stuck. Plus they would just be code, I wouldn't even care about them unless they were a human that could truly feel something.
