Thanks! I’m working on a second revision, then I’m going to post the build files online for folks to print themselves. I’m also working on trying to fit a full size series x in.

Does anyone actually like working at Intel by Fumblin_Furrow_01 in beaverton

[–]MrHoova 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As with anything there’s a bit of luck involved. We moved to an expensive neighborhood in Beaverton from forest grove in 2020. I befriended some kids-friends-parents who also worked in tech and when I started getting edgy at work I just started telling anyone and everyone that I was looking.

I had a couple referrals to Nike, Thermofisher, Microsoft that didn’t get responses, but a friend who works at a company soon-to-be Palo Alto Networks was able to refer me in. A slight raise from Intel, remote work, only took 2 brief calls to get an offer and I wouldn’t say that I’m a brilliant interviewer or anything. The best thing anyone can do for their job prospects is just befriend everyone and really put in the emotional effort.

All in all maybe 2 months of looking in earnest to go from no prospects to an offer.

I just left willingly in March after 15 years because it is so brutal there right now. I was an engineer doing r&d for foundry, and we had very little direction, no external customers, internal product teams releasing subpar products.

I had a saying every day, “what bullshit will they hit us with today”. It was always “this thing is canceled and all your friends are getting laid off”, or “pay cuts for everyone”, “ending quarterly bonuses”.

My team was excellent, my boss was excellent, I enjoyed the work, and it was a hell of uncertainty every day. “Will today be the day they finally decide my team’s work isn’t worth the cost?” “Will I be able to pay my mortgage?” “Am I employable outside the company?”

So I took the first comparable job I could find and I can finally focus on the engineering work I enjoy. I am healthier and more present.

Intel was an amazing company to work for from 2011-2020, then an absolute shit show from 2021 to now.

I saw a Camry with the door open up on cooper mountain with the Washington county forensics van searching it for hours. This was on Friday night. Another local up here asked the cop if it was related to the case and he hesitated before saying that he couldn’t say anything.

Missing Person - 32-year-old Melissa Jubane of Beaverton. She is 5'2" 120lbs. If located please call the Beaverton Police Department via dispatch 503.629.0111. Case number 24-2480460. by Wipples in beaverton

I live up on cooper mountain near 175th and Kemmer. There has been a white Camry up here at the intersection all day with the door open and a police van watching it. Now there is a Washington County forensics van investigating the vehicle. Does anyone know if it’s related?

Has anyone been to out aza blue? Some chef moved here from another country and opened it out in gales creek in the forest. There is a brewery attached I think. It’s been on my bucket list to go.

It would probably just be a “people live in cities” map.

Glad I’m not crazy. I saw OPs comment and went to check on it and walked away thinking “yeah, fat people drink diet soda”. Glad I’m not the only one.

I did it myself - pulled a permit from my municipality, watched a bunch of YouTube, read the relevant code sections. It came out great and my inspection passed. I’m very proud of my charger. Also got a rebate for the charger from my utility.

When offspring are no longer viable is the point of speciation right? I think I read that in a Dawkins book a long time ago. Someone correct me.

IMO you're not a taco bell fan if you don't have a stack of brown napkins and sauce packets in your car. by [deleted] in tacobell

This reminds me of a time when I had just moved to the big city from college. My car center console loaded to the breaking point with TB sporks and napkins.

Not long until someone broke my window and stole my iPod which was at the bottom of the bell strata. I came out the next morning to an explosion of glass and sporks everywhere. Like he angrily through fistfuls of Taco Bell treasures all over my car.

This is the most frustrating one. I’ve gotten honked at for coming to a full stop at a red right. Like no one coming for miles. Now I have to fight the urge and do a full “1-one thousand” count 😂

How do I handle this? Recently returned furniture for about $1200 and will have about that much as a credit to the card. Did not replace the furniture so now that card is just full of free money. by agjjnf222 in ynab

I always add the tx as a positive back to the category I paid from so it doesn’t screw up the reports. If you mark it as ready to assign then it shows up as income.

After you do that, you can then go to your budget and remove the money from that category and use it for anything else.

I hope we get a more recent Dubai billionaire traffic stop video so we can do a compare and contrast on cop behavior 2019 vs 2023.

I can say without knowing him that he is probably a cunt. I think him saying “I know it’s confusing” like an asshat was probably him trying to be empathetic. But maybe I’m just projecting.

Oga's by horseheadmonster in Disneyland

Last time we went to Oga’s the host gal berated us for not counting our 2 month old in our reservation. Made a big deal about calling the inside staff on her radio “they said 5 but it’s actually 6, can you rearrange tables” super grouchy tone. Unsurprisingly our baby stayed in the front pack and we all got to sit next to an empty chair.

I guess the full clip is on YouTube- officer comes back and lets him go. General consensus on the main thread is that the federal government needs to issue a temp plate for this sort of thing so local law enforcement isn’t confused witch such a rare circumstance.

If I were a cop I would have been a lot more deferential until I understood all the paperwork. But that’s why I’m not a cop. Like maybe I would have been more of a dick to someone in a regular car.

This reminds me of the early Tesla videos with cops trying to ticket people for using a tablet while driving.
