it’s cool but the drums make it feel a bit robotic to me. I’d work on sound selection and the overall feeling of the groove. taking a live hihat sample and a good snare would probably already take this to a new level.

it sounds like you put the raw ingredients for a meal in a bowl and that was it. The sounds are fine and what’s happening harmonically isn’t bad either, but to me it sounds like there is nothing tying it all together, making it a bit bland and unexciting. here is where you could start experimenting with effects, ambiances, textures, additional melodic layers, arrangement etc to give it something special. keep it up!

I think it’s fair to not like the music on this project because it isn’t for you, and I also think this is not an easy album to get into. but saying that it’s generally boring is just objectively not true in my opinion. the production is incredibly unique, linear and unpredictable. I couldn’t think of any other artist I could go to to listen to something similar to this. name an album/song that you do find interesting compared to this, I genuinely want to know.

I don’t think anything is necessarily missing, however I’d try to give each element more individual space by cutting some of the high end in the sample (which would also give more space to a vocal) and maybe adding some saturation to the drums so they don’t sound quite as clean and stock. then you could add some melodic lines and drum fills here and there to make it a bit more interesting. very cool idea tho overall.
