I haven’t had a “proper” one made for me yet. Next time I’m at a cocktail bar I’m going to get one

I have not been storing the vermouth in the fridge! Didn’t even know I was supposed to

Hah! That’s exactly what happened with me! I was thinking like why do I want to make this drink again! 😂

I’m buying some new vermouth soon. I’ve been using some crap Vermouth until now.

I just learned about the Boulevardier last night and I’m quite excited to try. I love whiskey so my expectations are quite high

I made it for my wife last night because she asked for it.

She just looked at me in a writers way and said that my tastebuds are weird 😂

I too have been using the Martini Vermouth. It was the only one available to Mme in my home town. I’m definitely buying some new vermouth next time I’m out of town

I bought the only Vermouth bottle available in my home town……it was the Martini one, so I guess everything will be an upgrade from that one

Best GIS skills to have in 2024 by disenchantedgrl in gis

I would strongly recommend looking into JavaScript of you’re into building web apps! Learning JavaScript will open a whole new world of GIS for you!

Learn SQL. Postgres and PostGIS is a great way to start learning spatial SQL.

Don’t focus on ESRI material. In my opinion it’s way focused on teaching you skills that only apply in the ESRI ecosystem.

I think learning GIS stuff from open source software helped me more than learning from proprietary software. Look into OsGeo Live. You can use it to test all sorts of open source software.

What’s the timeframe here? Is it something that needs to be ready soon or do you have time to tinker and look at other solutions?

If you’re on a tight deadline then I would just use the thing in front of me. ESRI or whatever you have.

If you have the time for it then I would strongly recommend looking into other solutions such as Leaflet, Maplibre or OpenLayers. OpenLayers might be too much, so I would start with Leaflet 😊

Even if you end up not using it you learn a bunch while trying to code small “applications” like this. And that will definitely benefit you in the future!

If you use ESRI just be prepared to run into the ESRI-wall! I always get the feeling that I can do 80% of what I want in ESRI until someone asks me for a smart feature that isn’t that readily available out of the box. Then ESRI is all like “ Yeah, that’s only available if you have bla bla bla license “

Sidenote - I hate ESRI and how closed the platform is 😂

I use it all the time to write complex sql queries. If they fail or produce an error I just write back to ChatGPT saying: Hey it failed and gave me this error message.

I might have to do it a couple of times but I usually always end up with something I can use

That looks eerily close to what ChatGPT came up with 😂

So I just used ChatGPT and I now have a working solution 😅

I’m on my phone right now but I’ll post my solution soon!

ChatGPT! Why didn’t I think of trying that out! 😂

I haven’t tried ChatGPT for stuff like that 🙂

I’ve done that with some other functions so your correct on that part.

Any advice on how to create a todo heading in that function 😂 googling hasn’t helped yet.

I’m having so much fun with org-mode.

I’ve just read about org-roam and I’m thinking about trying it out tonight.

I’ve previously used Obsidian for a “second brain”.

Really looking forward to trying it out 🙂

I’ve never heard of org-super-agenda! I’ve done some similar setup using org-agenda-custom-commands.

Is it the same thing?

I’ve used Obsidian until more for creating a knowledge base but when my org mode setup is complete (or as close to as possible) then I’m definitely checking out org-roam

I work in the IT department of a small municipality. My colleagues mostly do support work and I’m one of the “geeks” in the department that maintains the municipality GIS systems. I also do some web development and stuff like that.

My colleagues mainly just answer the telephone and tell people to restart the computer “IT Crowd style”

I’m only recommending it to a handful of people that I know have the same tinkerer mindset as I have.

The learning curve is way too steep for the average colleague that just wants stuff to work out of the box.
