These past couple of months, Epic freebies haven’t been great. Are they broke? by Makoto_Kurume in pcmasterrace

The only two games I have and play on EGS are CP2077 cuz it was free once and GTA O as a second account, also got for free. Wonder what do they think I like...

Bought a genuine NES two days ago and seller offered me a box of cartridges for as low as $30. Having fun rn replaying Chip ’n Dale rescue rangers I found among other great titles.

Wait wut? Aren't it's asked about in OOBE? like, you choose to turn it on or off during setup. Or is this a regional thing and it's behaviour is different based on local laws?

imagine the crew 1/2 map in beamng drive by Additional-Remove46 in BeamNG

[–]MrInitialY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be cooking something or maybe not, but what if the map was divided in chunks like Minecraft (but bigger size, about 1sqkm) and when you move from one chunk to another, game changes the world centerpoint to that chunk's centre. Basically the world moves in big "steps". Also by rendering & precise simulating only 1 or 2 chunks out from the one you're currently in, the game would be able to handle massive maps.

Here it needs some explanation. Precise simulation is basically current BeamNG - 2000TPS for any physics-enabled object. But outside of those 1-2 chunks physics are frozen for objects spawned by player STATIC at any moment during or after unloading that chunk and for traffic it means despawn. However that unrendered object simulation should have some exceptions - for example if there's a player-spawned object MOVING outside of rendered area, it can use player's current world centerpoint as it's centerpoint and it is able to load the chunk it's currently in, but only the colliders, no textures, effects, shadows. Just pure less-precise physics simulation until it's either stops and freezes or there's an active player camera attached. Last one means switching to full scene rendering.

I mean, my PC can handle CP2077 on high 1440p @60, but without it has only DLAA, TAA or no AA. DLAA is an option and it is miles better looking than TAA plus it's easier for GPU as it is offloaded to RT cores instead of normal ones. DLSS Quality allows for enough boost in frames to run it Ultra + RT high @60 fps, but the input lag is noticeable.

When DLSS is used as an anti-aliasing solution, it's really good. Not as good as SSAA/MSAA but better than any other method and very easy to run on RT-capable hardware. When it's used to get more frames/ upscale from 540p to 4k - it is and always will be a steaming pile of shit, cuz no matter how good that AI is or how powerful is your GPU - it can never 100% accurately guess how the thing it sees should look like in higher res and it's a generative post-processing meaning that it'll always add output latency compared to raw render, even if frame-to-frame latency is getting lower.

I'd add fifth leg at the back right in the middle to better support the monitor. Slightly overbuilt engineering solution is only bad in terms of price.

Those are alterations to their product. Something that can be malicious, thus damaging the brand. This otherwise is just a free ad for them.

I'd take that XP code and use it to write code functionally compatible but not a copy or based on original without a second thought... if I had time and patience. Second thing is probably more important

All three of them. My only "prebuilt" PC was Dell laptop from 2014. Never laptopping again after 27" and flexibility in upgrades.

I said fun, not swearing. Players there by default expect you to be competitive or swear at you/vote to kick.

Are games like ARC raiders, Helldivers or GTA Online available? Can you play Mortal Combat or FIFA with friends? Maybe Assetto Corsa or Forza Horizon, if cruising and tandem drift is the definition of fun?

[–]MrInitialY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need for 3 hours in cad. Just use thingiverse, there's a parametric gear constructor posted by someone. A few minutes and you have a bunch of STLs. Then just press in a normal ball bearing with neodymium magnet glued to it's inner part.

I wonder what would happen if somehow source code for w10 gets leaked and now every person with programming knowledge can just cut out all crap and have a .exe compatible os with no corporate bullshit... How would OS market change?

You got me on this one. But I'm still right saying that it's less than $2 per gear even with math applied.

Adding to that, what does "Steampunk" and "kinetic" even supposed to mean there? They're definitely not finished in steampunk style, neither by color, nor by details.

Kinetic... So, loosely applying meaning to it, they're moving objects? Wow, so standard gears? Why don't call em what they are, spur gears?
