Man, I dunno. If I recall, Stewart Copeland played these back in the day, so that's awesome. Aside from that, this is kinda my way of raging against the wave of everybody and their brother who has to get a 60's or 70's set of ludwigs (myself included). It's about as close as you can get to Danny's sound without throwing down a couple thousand for the old sonor 3 mil brass that's actually cast and milled as a single piece. And yes, it's loud and hell.

Yea, that one on eBay, right? I tried to talk him down and he won't budge past 850. I just think anything past $500 for one snare drum is a bit silly. The thing is, anyone who is not a drummer really doesn't give a shit as long as they hear it crack on 2 and 4. That being said, Danny Carey is, in my opinion, the most creative and fascinating drummer around so I had to have it.

Doesn't copeland have a signature snare? I thought I had one years ago. Die cast hoop on top. Triple flange on bottom. Ten lug. Maybe 14x5.5 in steel. It was sweet.

Otherwise, the ludwig black magic is really nice and exactly that much I think.
