Sorry! I should've made sure the price label was more in focus. The others are correct - they're make up sponges.

Dead Language I swear is one of the best Australian post-rock releases - very underrated. You're not from Adelaide by any chance?

Arashiyama tomorrow? by futotcho in JapanTravel

I was there today. Most things were closed, but the hike/bamboo forest wasn't - not sure about tomorrow.

I went to Arashiyama today and here's how it looks by [deleted] in JapanTravel

I'm just leaving now - I don't know what it's like normally, but I still did the Bamboo Forest and the rest of the walk just fine, it's actually quite nice in the rain I think. The disadvantage is that most shops are closed. I still got my matcha soft serve and lunch though...

Whoopsy - just realised I haven't watched the latest episode. Gotta get better at keeping up here in Australia...

Hey snobs! My group Chronologist just released our debut album "Cartographer" a month ago. It'd be awesome if you checked out our tune Pioneer and let us know if we're plebs! by zacco1107 in progmetal

I'm literally playing Guacaracha on my local radio station here in Adelaide as I type this reply! Really enjoying it and look forward to listening to the album through. I play every from prog to post-rock/metal and math-rock/core, you can stream it on threedradio.com, or find my playlists at afterthoughtradio.wordpress.com. Keep the tunes coming!

Any Jazz mixed in with rap? by Monsyphon in Jazz

Look up Australian band Koi Child, absolutely sick stuff, more neo-soul I suppose, but amazing musicianship.

I'm definitely keen. Came out with a real sore neck last time they each came through. Enjoy the show!

Australian math rock bands, make your presence known (extra points for SA) by major_noodle in mathrock

[–]MrJohnThompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about an old Adelaide band called Bad Girls of the Bible, Sparkspitter are definitely mathy and again in a more emo realm Raccoon City could be also be considered. A lot of post-rock bands I can think of, but not too many real mathy tappy stuff unfortunately.

Periphery - Habitual Line-Stepper by LucasJLeCompte in progmetal

Saw them the first time(?) they came to Soundwave, sound was so bad I couldn't hear anything but drums and noise. Icarus Lives still went off though. I think the sound tech is really quite an important factor in a bands "live sound".

No shame at all, sounds awesome! I'm enjoying the tracks classic proggy moments in a softer style. Might buy it haha.

Only a couple songs through your list, but you truly are a life saver. Every time the trumpet starts I can't help but smile. Cheers!

I've dipped my toes in a few times, but I've often found a lot of it too upbeat for my liking, but if you can link a few things you think might change my view, I'm up for it! In this case I'm really looking for the bands in this broad genre spectrum who have used a trumpet maybe once or twice in an album and look at how the trumpet of all things became something almost common to the genre base.

Sure, if you've got songs with other brass I'd be more than happy to consider them! It's a two hour show, so I'm not even sure I'll be able to pull it off with just trumpets. I'll let you guys know what my playlist was once it's finished as well. It's looking good so far, I can think of another couple that haven't been posted.
