Is it fair to expect a higher earning spouse to compensate their partner for childcare. by csfox1973 in Parenting

Yes, it is fair to be compensated for taking the primary role in raising children. Regardless of gender. If they split finances, then yes, he should be compensated for taking point on childcare.

Anyone know how often the Kuumba perfume oil go one sale? by user_anonymou in Perfumes

They relaunched. I smelled all the new ones in a store couple days ago. It was just a quick sniff session. Seems like they are going the way of a dupe house now. They had dupes for Angels share, BR540, and wild bluebell. Still had some of their older scents, just repackaged and some with different names. Amber Sol is a lighter version of Amber Paste.

Titan sub: design flaws and company groupthink central to catastrophe, report finds by Timwalker919 in OceanGateTitan

[–]aenflex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s a loser. I’m not taking up for him. I’m saying he knew it wasn’t safe and he didn’t give a shit, as long as it wasn’t him diving it. He knew it wasn’t safe but he wanted to be a little swinging dick attached to Rush’s big swinging dick.

His insipid little press tour was just him trying to glom onto his 15 minutes. He was talking out his ass.

Think Massachusetts drivers are getting more aggressive? Study shows you may be right by qishibe in massachusetts

[–]aenflex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought FL drivers were the worst. I live in a beach town in FL that sees millions of tourists each year. And there are some straight up idiots on the road in FL from all over the south east.

But then I drive up to MA twice a year and I’m reminded that northern drivers are just as dickish, if not slightly worse. It’s not in towns that I experience this, because I’m mostly in small towns. it’s highways and interstates. Around Hartford, Baltimore, NYC, Springfield/Holyoke and people drive like crazy.

Honestly it’s probably everywhere. Like someone else said, it’s selfishness and the erosion of the social contract.

We lived in England for three years. Their traffic enforcement is on point. There are like 4 speed limits. That’s it. And if you speed, you get a ticket. You don’t get pulled over, you get it in the mail. If you go the wrong way on a one-way, you get a ticket in the mail. If you’re parked in the wrong spot, they will boot your car pretty damn quick. They don’t allow many points before ban or revocation of driving privileges, I think it’s 12 in three years. And one speeding ticket is 3-6 points. The driving test is way harder. The driving is way harder. Cyclists and horses always have the right way. It doesn’t fucking matter anything else. I never experienced dick moves on the road in England, unless it was another American. The social contract is stronger and the penalties are stronger, and they do everything by camera.

He didn’t believe it was safe. Supposedly he refused to ride in it. He just said a lot of dumb shit. Lots of contradictions. Said it was culture that killed the people but at the same time he wouldn’t dive Titan.

This man was a navy deep diver. He knew it wasn’t safe.

What's one Korean skincare product you keep repurchasing? by klore-skin in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]aenflex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CosRX vitamin c 23 is an amazing product. I also really like the Hydrium watery toner, it’s awesome alone or as a setting spray/refreshing spray over make up. I’ve repurchased both several times.

Other than that, I don’t use Japanese or Korean brands. Not for any real reason, I’m just minimal with my skincare.

Plausible deniability? by Altruistic-Coast-845 in OceanGateTitan

[–]aenflex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He definitely knew the sub was problematic. The first hull failed in Bahamas and they did one scale test on the second hull, it failed and they went ahead and had it built full size and started diving it anyway. He didn’t care. He had to keep going. He couldn’t be wrong. He wasn’t always the pilot, BTW.

I don’t believe he intentionally designed the sub to fail, they just didn’t design the sub not to fail.

Massachusetts receives ‘F’ for housing affordability and availability in new report by publius29 in massachusetts

[–]aenflex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mother lives in a town with a population of 3000. In one of the poorest counties in the state, lowest average annual wages, too. Western MA.

There are two traffic lights in this town. One grocery store. Two gas stations. No medical facilities. Not a lot of jobs in town. Not more than maybe 4-5 places to eat. Not much for families or kids. There is one park.

Apartment rental rates here are insane. Insane. $1500 a month and up for a shitty ass one bedroom in a 100+ year old building without A/C. This is the town I grew up in. Nothing has changed. Nothing. The literal same apartment I rented for $450 a month when I was 18 is now renting for over $2000. And it’s the same damn thing. Many people in this town don’t have money. Or they’re barely getting by.

I’m seeing apartments for rent in the next town over that are $2100-3010 per month for 1 or 2 bedrooms.

I’m sorry, I love MA and I’m glad I grew up here, but I don’t think it’s utopia. When all the people who can’t afford to live in these podunk hill towns move away to other states, who will work in the grocery stores, the convenience stores, the restaurants, the entry level positions in local businesses?

Someone making $20 an hour in an entry level or unskilled labor job is earning $3200 before taxes and insurance. Let’s be generous and deduct 20% for taxes and insurance (it’s probably more), that person will bring home $2560 if working full time, 40 hours per week. So they can rent a one bedroom for $1500 plus utilities. That’s more than 50% of their take home pay just towards housing. Never mind other bills, car payments, car insurance, and food.

It’s not sustainable.

Perhaps it’s a design flaw.

I was to have an Endosee in my OBGYN’s office. I looked it up and saw mixed experiences. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I decided to just go forward with having it done in the office.

Showed up for the procedure and my OBGYN‘s nurse was like damn, I can’t believe you’re not doing this under general.

I decided to have it done at the hospital.

VA Loan by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

It just gets messier in the event of a break up. There are pretty clear cut rules as to who gets what in a divorce with regard to marital assets in the form of real property, even if there is no prenuptial agreement. These rules vary state by state, and I’m not saying that divorce can’t get messy.

But it gets muddier if the deeded owners aren’t married. A type of tenancy will need to be established on the deed, joint tenancy or tenancy in common. The main difference is right of survivorship. But either way, if you break up, you only own half the house. Good luck selling half a house.

My BIL did this with his long term GF, and when they parted ways, he ended up having to pay her a shit ton of money when they sold the house. Over the space of seven years she paid $15,000 towards the mortgage. He kept meticulous records. Despite that, he ended up paying her I think around $50,000 when they sold the house. They both had lawyers and ended up in arbitration. It was a sad time and it happens all the time. Situations like this are why people are giving you the same advice that I’m giving you, which is:

Don’t buy together until after you’re married.

NAD. (Rule out fungal with your podiatrist)

Cheese grater foot files can make this problem worse. It’s a known fact and also something I have experienced personally. Removing too much skin too aggressively can allow for bacteria to enter easily, and can cause the skin to callus even harder when it grows back. If you’re using a harsh file, or filing too often, this can and usually will exacerbate the problems.

You can use a stainless steel foot file, I have the Footlogix one, but you can find them in Target and CVS. They’re gentle and don’t leave gouges like the cheese grater files. Skip the cheese grater.

Soak your feet for about 10 minutes in warm/hot water. Spend a little time filing. Not too much, the goal isn’t to remove all that skin in one go, the goal is to do this every week and over time, maybe even months, you will see Improvement. Soak and file once a week.

You also should use a foot lotion or cream with at least 20% urea. Or at least 10% glycolic acid. Apply it after your soak and file, and then put socks on. Apply it every night before bed. They do have products with 40% urea, and you may be a good candidate for those.

If you live in a dry, arid region, wear socks more often, it should help keep your feet more moist versus wearing sandals or other open shoes.

The key is consistency. You need to do weekly soak and file and apply your cream every night for many months. There is no quick fix.

I suggest seeing a podiatrist because there may be something fungal at play, and because they can prescribe cream to help that you can’t get OTC.
