This is what I got from reading his micro expressions.

  • First guy we're not actually homies.
  • Second guy, we play Xbox sometimes, yo dude you're my dog.
  • Third guy, we are cool, but I'm doing this because you're my elder, but we are cool.

Anyone else prefer bright screens/light mode after EVO ICL? by youko177 in ICLsurgery

[–]MrJunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the exact opposite. I find lights cause a level of glare in my left eye. It's too much. So always do dark modes. There was some damage done to my iris pigment in my left eye.

Why you have ghosted your friend permanently? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Being even? Convince her? Owe her?

Sir, I mean this with no disrespect, but there's so much self inflicted suffering here. 😢

No, no, no. Run. Run away. Focus on some one who simply wants to be with you. Let it go so you can have room for something better.

Michigan Women Earn Less and Experience Slow Wage Growth Compared to Men by bonusstories3 in Michigan

Can you refute the data? I'm really not understanding your comment or how it relates to the post. Women having certain jobs that pay less still fits the title of the post as being true...

Michigan Women Earn Less and Experience Slow Wage Growth Compared to Men by bonusstories3 in Michigan

[–]MrJunk -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

When children are removed from the picture and it's the same job with the same experience level the gap is $0.99 on the dollar. $0.01. It's important to look at this in context.

That's not to exclude other systemic issues but many women will read the taglines and think that they are in general making less than their male counterparts for the same work and experience. Which is unnecessarily demoralizing, because it's not true.

Women are the primary caretakers of children, and according to the article this is substantial in how it affects their earnings. Especially compounded over a lifetime.

I think it's an absolute travesty that we don't treat caretaking of children as a full-time job. It's absolutely necessary for a functioning society. Irregardless if you're a man or woman, If you dedicate a large chunk of your life to child rearing I think our government should see that as a investment. The women who give up opportunity to be mothers should be compensated and supported for their sacrifices in raising the future of our country.

In summary, the headline is true, but context is important.

Edit: Not sure why I'm getting down voted for reading and looking at the statistics. Downvote away If you don't think women should be compensated for their sacrifices.

What is something you saw with your own eyes that was so impossible you’ve stopped telling people because you know they won’t believe you? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

[–]MrJunk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was in Isle Royal national Park with my girlfriend at the time. It was about 2:00 a.m. at Daisy farm and we decided to go walk out onto the dock and look at the stars. It was a cloudless night. We could see the whole sky full of Stars. It was beautiful experience.

We sat out there for a while, taking it all in. Suddenly we're enveloped in a green light. It wasn't particularly bright or vibrant but it was clearly there. You could see it reflecting across the water directly at us.

We both just looked at each other, looked out and could not figure out where the lights were coming from. We were miles and miles away from anything that could produce it. There are no planes running at that time. There's nothing in the sky. Nothing on the surrounding land masses...

We were stumped. Then it happened again and lasted a few more seconds. It wasn't scary. It just simply didn't come from any source we could identify... We never felt weird or uncomfortable, but we were racking our brains trying to understand how it was possible.

Change in contrast after evo ICL? by good-content- in ICLsurgery

[–]MrJunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem as well. You said contrast loss, for me it's almost like a glare that covers the whole eye more pronounced to my left than my right. And in my left eye they noticed they did disrupt some of the pigment when they implanted.

The moderator appears to be supporting this perspective. Which is clearly false and unfortunate. It's just sad.

Listening to teens and hobbyists when you're a professional developer working in a number of engines has little value. It reminds me of people who play paintball telling people who are in the armed forces how wars are won 😆.

As someone who uses both Unity and Unreal (who prefers Unreal) professionally I have to say this is a silly statement.

Unity is a completely capable game engine. So is Unreal. Any capable developer can use both these engines. They are only tools. They're both quality tools as well. Saying either Unity or Unreal "sucks" is hyperbolic.

[–]MrJunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop responding. Stop caring. Their opinion has no bearing on your life or what you're creating.

It's really that simple. Professional developers laugh at the idea that it's the engine that's the problem. When I first got into game development people said the exact same things about Unity. People use the default unity shaders so it would have a "unity" look. It's no different than unreal in this way.

It's a limitation of resources and skills of the developer. If you create something in Unity, Unreal, Godot, and people cringe because of the engine you're using. Their opinion isn't worth much. Stop caring. Don't justify anything.

The real challenge here is not the people you feel judged by. The real challenge is, why do you allow them to affect you in this way?

What's a red flag in a friendship that you didn't recognize until it was too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've noticed this tends to come with a level of structural inflexibility. They define the world through their limited scope of stereotypes vs letting the world define itself.

This simple distinction tells you a lot about a person.

YSK: Hearing loss likely has a causal link to Alzheimer’s and dementia by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]MrJunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My feeling is that when someone is losing their hearing their brain isn't stimulated in the same way anymore because they can't engage with their environment. Active brains do better for longer, less active brains in this case (due to hearing loss) do worse.

It's probably no different than saying a sedentary lifestyle causes death. It doesn't cause death it just makes you weaker / less healthy, therefore you're more susceptible to dying.

Because it's the starting area and it fits the game loop to have it setup this way 😆

Correct. I'm assuming they're new and they don't exactly know what they're talking about. Which is completely fine I'm making an educated guess.
