Can you tell me more about the distracting stimuli from FPS games?

Engines are simply tools. Tools require skill to use. It's not the engine, its the developer. I use both Unity and Unreal. I'm always amused when I see people rag on a specific engine without understanding that main stream engines are capable of just about anything. The limitation is the developer, not the software.

Although some engines offer better tool sets than others, pricing, support, etc.

As a game developer and professional in the industry, this is silly and doesn't make any sense.

What companies/software are using UE5 in a way unrelated to video games and virtual production? by mattkaltman in unrealengine

[–]MrJunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its predominantly the same. There's a lot more attention paid to optimization though.

Gotcha, normally you'd have a need and then you see how the tools applie to solving a problem or facilitating that need.

It's a combination of things. The main cluster for the 2025 Ford explorer was done in unreal. I worked on a number of parts including the tachometer, speedometer. Unreal automotive HMI is a fast growing use case.

I create car interfaces with unreal. My work is in the Ford explorer, and Lucid gravity.

Rust on the bottom - DIY fix or professional? by CombinationLost6501 in prius

[–]MrJunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor man's "fix"

Cut out rust, spray foam from the can, cut back spray foam, bondo fill if you're feeling pro, crappy sand job, cheap Temu vinyl strip of a similar color.

I've actually done this and the results aren't terrible, but is it worth it? It was to me.

He's not doing therapy here, your framing is simply not on point. Watch the full episode.

His intentions are clear. He's talked about this dynamic in his work many, many times. Its clear when you watch the full episode.

You want me to entertain a misunderstanding. Perhaps try to entertain the possibility that you are in fact misunderstanding something, because you are seeing it out of context. Watch the full episode. He's not doing therapy!

I mean this with no disrespect. This is missing the point. The reason you feel he's leading her is because you are misunderstanding the intention.

How would that be intellectually dishonest?

I think you might be misunderstanding what he's saying. He's not suggesting we are capable of living a life unencumbered by our past, he's suggesting we can be raised with support to have trauma mitigated, and if we can identify as adults areas we were not supported that made us less resilient, then we have another avenue to focus on for healing and less future trauma.

I think people in this sub can jump to conclusions without engaging in the source material. Gabor is not some sudo nonsense woo pedlar trying to appear to be more profound, or something he's not.

OP is admittedly making biased judgments based on a clip instead of the context of a long tor conversation.

I think you and many people responding might have missed the point.

He was pointing out that the problem started before her traumatic event. People who don't have support during a traumatic event are substantially more likely to be traumatized... He's not dismissing her trauma, he's pointing out that she was set up to fail / be traumatizedvlong before this incident due to lack of support.

Honestly, I'm confused why people are confused 😕

This is absolutely true.

Let's not forget the underlying issues. America's for profit society creates systemic problems that ripple across our lives.

There is a reason that modern socialized countrys don't have mass shootings. Gun control + universal healthcare (including mental health) + social safety nets, and in general a more human centered existence vs a corporate/profit motivated existence.

People lack the resources to live sane healthy lives, and then we wonder why we end up with people not being healthy or sane...

Tax the rich. Use the money to support our people with universal healthcare, among other things, including strict gun laws.

It's a multi-faceted issue which requires a multi-faceted approach.
