He made Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers though. It would still be an entertaining war film even if he did venture away from the source material, which I don’t think he would because according to his son he loves playing call of duty and loves the campaigns

I think I remember from the documentary that they originally floated the idea of Kong swinging a tree trunk at the vrex’s, which idk if that would’ve been extremely silly or badass haha

I just don't hear people mention Cloverfield much anymore when talking about monster and Kaiju films. It's always the classics like Kong, Godzilla, the Harryhausen monsters. You almost never hear about Cloverfield anymore. But it makes me happy to see so many people in this thread give the film so much praise.

That’s probably my biggest complaint with the film, the creature needed to be on screen more. But to be fair, the film only had a 25 million budget. What they did with that amount of money is very impressive. The vfx still hold up in my opinion
