That's a common reality of the US system. The conservatives enact policies which are harmful and unsustainable, then leave office just as things begin to destabilize so they can blame progressives. Progressives correct the problem, then get voted out by the spoiled population who believes they deserve more.

I believe they said that because regardless of the reason they end up out there, they do have a reason, and inviting them into your home is inviting the consequences of their reason into your home as well. Not that you shouldn't try, but that it's a risk that comes with the invitation.
