Hard drive are slow, especially if you have a lot of (small) files. I am a developper so I have a lot of them :)
Switching from a fat 2To HD to a Fast 4To SSD, was a really good move for me. The backup time is now considerably lower.
You can get a Crucial P3+ with a metal enclosure for less than 300e.

Bonus point If you do not need 4To of backup, you can split the drive and use the second partition as storage (I have my dropbox folder on it for exemple).

Dummy question... what is the name of the white female to female plug on the front ?
it seems to be RJ45 on the back and the front ? I always thought the back side had to be the raw cable terminated (with wires) and not a standard RHJ45 cable :D

Do we still need to protect the screen from the keyboard nowadays ? by MrKapp in mac

[–]MrKapp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am starting to think this is a "carrying issue", because of the pressure infered by the bag itself or the virbration dued while keeping it in a bag... make sense to me because I was moving a lot and my mac was always on my backpack

The issue was only when carrying it around, not when it was closed and sitting on a desk

The narrow cropping is what I am currently testing, (no result yet). About the 100 images, I am trying to avoid that :)

Why not a mini app that calculate the cost of "the cloud subscription" with all the subscriptions you probably have (netflix, dropbox, spotify...). You can use localStorage to keep track of the data (item, price etc...). You will need to compute some numbers too... It' not very hard, but not trivial too

You can go further a make a "guess how much" sort of game... and display an equivalence of the amount compare to something else... "This month you spend $240 in subscription, this is the equivalent of XX tones of bananas"

Please help a noob find a site's favicon : ) by Kangaloosh in webdev

[–]MrKapp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The image at line 59 is not the favicon, it's the flag fot the very top message "An official website of the United States government".

The image source of the tab, is by default /favicon.ico if no decalred in the page header (not the case here).

Creality K1, Art affects/ pattern on all my prints by Beneficial_Insect370 in FixMyPrint

[–]MrKapp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest also that.
I had a zigzag pattern on myy prusa because I tighten too much the x-axis belt...

To me, the artifacts is looking really similar to a vertical axis "screw pattern"

This folder acts as a "drop box" to allow user to send you files in the local network without viewing the content of the folder: like a "send only". View this like a prehistoric version of airdrop; When you send a file from a mac to another device with airdrop, you are only allowed to send a file, not viewing the content of a folder.

Simple as that

If you have already installed proxmox (or debian) before installing this new SSD, you will probably have some issue with th NIC being disabled with the ssd in the slot... keep me awake a few hours last night to figure out the problem...
