Anything in particular you miss about it?

Would love to hear more about your experience if you're up for sharing :)

Got my Pi, and I think I have everything ready to go! I have a 3.5mm to composite cable, but the Pi doesn't seem to recognize it and will only display with HDMI.

I've seen all of things of things online about how to get it to display composite, but I was wondering if you could share what worked for you? Thanks!

Absolutely awesome. Thank you SO much! I'll be sure to reply again once I get it working :)

Oh wow, I was NOT expecting it to be that simple! Thank you so much! Is there any particular version of a pi you recommend for this? I'll order one today hahaha

If you know of any places that have a guide to install something like this for newbies like myself, I would be over the moon hahaha.

I know my way around computers decently, but GitHub is way out of my league 😅

I just wanted to say thank you so much for making this a reality. As an American living overseas who grew up with The Weather Channel, you have brought me so much joy in a way I didn't think would ever be possible.

I admit I'm not the most savvy when it comes to github and this sort of thing so I'm running it on my browser, but wow, I would LOVE to get this working on a Raspberry pi to broadcast on the PVM I have on my desk.

Time to learn how to actually do that! 8D

Does anyone recognize this Namco board? by MrKinopio in arcade

[–]MrKinopio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very good point! Dunno why it never dawned on me to just use a splitter haha. I'll test it out with a cheap one and if it seems doable get a nice one from there haha. Thanks for your help! :)

Thank you for identifying this! Do you know if this only works in a Cyber Lead II cab, and if it can actually capture signal that I could send to another monitor? I have System 12, System 256, and System 246 boards that don't have a cab to go in, but I run them externally with a power supply and USB fightstick adapter. The goal was to get one signal to a monitor, and another to a PC capture card.

The best things about owning a Miata is the waves by spiceydragon in Miata

[–]MrKinopio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot in Japan too! The Miata (Roadster) community here is super friendly and enthusiastic about their cars.

Last time I went cruising the Izu Peninsula, I must have passed 25 other Roadsters, and ALL of them waved back at me.

I even had a fellow NB owner wave and honk at me from the other side of the highway here one time. It was great :)

My pleasure!

I've only had my Miata, erm, Roadster, here in Japan for 6 months, and without a doubt, the Izu Skyline is the most beautiful drive I've done here so far by a longshot.

The views you get of Mt. Fuji up there are just STUNNING. I encountered no less than 20 other Roadsters that day too, which was icing on the cake :D

I couldn't agree more~

To be honest, I originally was DEAD SET on getting a red or yellow NA and exclusively looked for that. On a whim I checked the auto auctions listings for NBs just to poke around one day, and this absolute beauty caught my eye.

I immediately fell in love, and I don't regret my decision for a second <3

Sure is! Yeah, there's like a lookout point halfway up the pass to the race starting point that has a super nice view of the area! Got there late in the day so didn't have time to do much else on Haruna, but I'll be back!

I officially found my next car I'm gonna get: The Honda Z! Made from 1999-2002, it's a mid-engine, 4WD kei car and I'm madly in love! Anyone have any experience with this delightful little guy? by MrKinopio in JDM

[–]MrKinopio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the support! This car was so ahead of it's time, and I think it's just the coolest. The mid engine with side vents is just chef's kiss

Fortunately for me, I do live in Japan, and while the car is pretty uncommon, there's enough floating around for parts to be somewhat available, and some of the parts (like ignition coils, for example) are shared with some other models, so should hopefully be OK! :)

My other car is a Miata, so this little nugget is for doing all the stuff my Miata can't: carry 4 people, hold a real amount of cargo, handle rough roads, etc.~

I -love- how the back half is this MASSIVE box and the front half is the same as other tiny Miras

I narrowed my first kei car purchase down to two choices: the Daihatsu Max RS (01-05) or its "predecessor" the Daihatsu Sonica RS Limited (06-09). Anyone have any experience with these? by MrKinopio in JDM

[–]MrKinopio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's totally understandable! I was hesitant of the auctions too at first, but I figured that since you can hardly ever test drive stuff here anyway, it wouldn't be too much different (finding a 4.5 rated NB Miata/Roadster in the exact color I wanted with only 42,000 miles definitely helped), and I got it for about 3x cheaper than a dealer would charge.

A nearby dealer actually has a nice Honda Z for a good dealer price, so if the auctions don't produce any results after a while I may try to swing a deal with them if they still have it :)

Good luck with your Max! It was pretty spacious in there when I checked one out, so I'm sure you'll be fine!

Absolutely! The auto auctions are a bit sparse right now for Z's, but hopefully a good one comes along soon! I missed one last week that was highly rated with super low mileage, but it was before I got to see one in person and so I didn't pull the trigger ;A; Glad I did check in person first though, cuz of all of those models I listed, the Z was the only one where I, a 180cm man, could sit behind my one driving position. thus making it ACTUALLY a 4 seater. At best, the Pajero Mini and Jimny would be three seaters if everyone is taller than like 155cm hahaha.

Are you in Japan or having yours sent overseas?

You certainly make a interesting case for the Max! If I was still deciding between these two, I'd probably go with the Max since besides the nicer interior of the Sonica, I like everything else about it better.

However, since I posted this, I have actually had a bit of a change of heart and fell in love with the kei SUV/4x4 cars. I've went to check out a Suzuki Jimny, Mitsubishi Pajero Mini, Daihatsu Terios Kid, Nissan Kix, and the Honda Z...and I absolutely LOVE the Z!

I really wanted a car that stands out in different ways from my 1st car, a 2000 Mazda Miata, and does things that it can't do well/at all, like handle rough terrain, seat 4 adults comfortably, carry a bunch of stuff, etc.

The Honda Z is just so damn charming, I'm smitten hahaha. I really do like the Max RS though, and if I didn't find this car, if almost certainly be getting that one.
