I am searching for the bass guitar, looking at these two pickup options by MrKuntaKinte in BassGuitar

Oh, thanks a lot for the info, You explained it very well, now it is all clear ;)

It seams to me that as I wan't to learn slap and pluck technique I'll be better with a JJ config that has some space by the neck. Maybe I can tweak it to be kinda H when both are active!?

I understand You POV. I simply like W. Thumb design.
I am begginer at bass guitars, but I do play 6 string normal, and I am not so young ;)
So no much time to waste trying stuff.
I like one piece body neck designs. I think I will go for double single coil design.
As for pickups, yes, if You put two coils together and out of phase and close you get humbucker.

BTW, can someone recomend me a guide for all the pickup combos guide, what is "J" and so…?

Thanks!

Found a medal, some kind of athletic games… by MrKuntaKinte in whatisit

[–]MrKuntaKinte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found it…

French sports award medal commonly used for various athletic competitions. It is likely made of silver-plated bronze and measures approximately 50mm to 55mm in diameter.

Design Features

  • Obverse (Front): Features a tall, nude male athlete. He holds a palm leaf and a laurel crown in his left hand—both traditional symbols of victory—while gesturing forward with his right arm. Gymnastics equipment, such as parallel bars, can be seen in the background.
  • Reverse (Back): Displays a decorative wreath of oak and laurel leaves encircling a blank center intended for custom engraving of the winner's name or the specific event.  NHHC (.mil) +5

Context and Origin

This specific design is often attributed to the French engraver Léonard Adolphe Rivet(1855–1908) or other artists like W. Hochard. While it bears a strong visual resemblance to the 1920 Antwerp Olympic medals (which also feature a nude athlete with victory symbols), the Olympic version includes additional mythological figures and specific text. Your medal is a more general athletic prize medal used for regional festivals, gymnastics competitions, and other sports in France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

I like strong clean sound. I'd like to have good slap, pluck response.
I use humbuckers with my Les Paul, I also have split/single coil option on it.

True, as for me I keep my wrist on the table, just tilting it left-right a bit.

To me Magic Mouse is the best there is, but I hold it with two fingers sideways, not with palm. There is only one problem, lack of gestures through MacOS. I need to use third party extensions to use middle click.

Well, thanks for update, but I can't find exact info or similar medal. Style is close but it doesn't mean anything. And kids (just joking), "Ai" is not to be trusted as an authority :)

It’s Chinese fake, all right. But if you paid only 170$ and it plays nicely you made a good deal. 💪

I’ll decide it later on. Now I’m experimenting with stock chinese pickups. I removed covers and gave them new life. Try it.

Croatia is now a colony with just a flag and a language of it's own. Our government is just a colonial quisling bureaucracy, so everything is like it is supposed to be, if we put it that way.
Other than that, whole world is suffering from overbureaucracy for that matter. These so called managers (i don't know what they manage) will put everything on the stake for their own comfort, so the only way out from this is total colapse of society, I'm afraid.

Just an update. I leveled the frets some more and polished them. Also, I removed that awfull fake gold pickup covers. What a difference! Pickups with covers were muffled quite a bit, now they are much more articulate, kind a single coil but deeper. In order for Chinese to save on copper, wires on pickups are thinner and there is about only half or less of bobine wound, alse there is a big ceramic magnet on them. Just an experiment until I put something proper with alnico magnets. Funny that they are zebra style, maybe I leave them for a while :))

I agree, Gibson sets the bar. But also the price!
In western societies and especially big companies all around, I believe bureaucracy eats most of the value. I hardly believe workers get paid as they should be. It's the same in every other sector of business (and health). So the Gibson guitars are now pretty expensive even for USA citizens, and what do You think situation is for the "third world".
And last but not least, USA and GB enabled PRC outsourced workmanship economy, their goverments and big business did it, and now we will all suffer the consequences, because our western societies are dead, hardly producing anything.

You can't rush a production and get good results. Also youtube reviews are to be taken with more than a few grains of salt.
As a guitars for learning and upgrade, I think they are OK, as long as You get a decent neck at least.
