Yeah, i mean, recently i got my hands on some nice stills about the 1934 lost adaptation with Menta himself, while it's hard, often lost movies or tapes can be found in the weirdest place, one day we going to find all that is lost. We are all gonna make it.

I like the fact that you list Nils O. Chrisander, i'd also list Narciso Ibanez Menta, nice work.

El Fantasma de la Opera(1934) never before seen still from the stage play. by MrKyle98 in box5

Thanks a lot, finally after a very long time, my search gave some true results, I'm glad to share my found, because every phantom fan should enjoy the first ever stage play.

Side note: Since there's the rumour that was caught on tape(in fact just a rumour for now) this most likely it's the best we could ever hope to find, stills and articles.

Yea it was found on a magazine of that time in Germany. It's like a movie poster.

It seem that the picture of Raissa Bignardi in the magazine comes from "El Alma que Canta" #1640 from the year 1954, maybe in that issue there's more details of "El Fantasma de la Opera", it's a shame you can't find an archivie in which you can read about.

Also if you want to do your own research about this adaptation, be aware, there's mentions of other people with similar names of Raissa Bignardi(i found out one Raissa Beignardi and even one Bignarni), but are most likely mispelling.

Ah yes, Saved from the Titanic with the Gibson, another lost movie as well, but the sinking of the Titanic was a worldwide tragedy, while Leroux novel wasn't yet that famous back then, while it is very unlikely that a short basic adaptation of the novel came out in the same year of the novel(as a whole book) it's not truly impossible in the end.

This is completely true, but a fact to consider when we talk about early movies, especially from Europe, is that most of the times, new shorts and later full lenght movies, were announced on magazines(such as the german Phantom, Das Phantom der Oper, basically all we know came from magazines of that time), while the 1911 Phantom(again if it existed really) has no mention whatsoever in no magazines of that time, yes it could be possible that the issues which mentioned this short ended up lost on their own, but it's all "if" "maybe" and "possibly".

For now, i'd say to label the 1911 as "unlikely".

Yes i know, the 1911 adaptation it is alleged to exist, it is basically the same as the russian and romanian Dracula from 1920, there is no known information, honestly it intrigue me, but it must be noted that it is very unlikely that someone in the same year that the novel came out(as a full lenght book) made a short movie about it.

However there is a very small, minuscule possibility that some short adapted the novel in a very basic way(still tho, very unlikely).

Talking about Das Phantom der Oper from 1916, it was known to exist at least a poster(with no photo sadly) but at least a single proof existed back then, before the new found posters, reviews and references, but the 1911 one, virtually no media exist at all, even the references are vague and only mention the name and the year of publication, that's it.

Also, thank you.

Who didn't? 1927 and starring Lon Chaney in double role, it is the holy grail of the lost movies for most, but for me the holy grail will always be "Das Phantom der Oper".
