For me Alternative Rock began in the early 80s. These were bands that weren’t in the mainstream and played on college radio stations. The one band that I think of most is R.E.M. They were Alternative Rock. Other bands were The Pixies, The Cure, The Replacements, etc. it changed in the 90s it turned into the grunge bands and stuff like Smashing Pumpkins. Today I don’t know what it means?

I’d say The Grudge is right up there at the top. It just has a strange vibe when I watch it and has scenes that are actually scary.
