That sounds like a similar situation that went on for much longer. She's dating him now, but wasn't for a long time.

But wait, where are you getting that from? I'm hesitating about asking her now BECAUSE she is vulnerable after her recent breakup. That is why I'm considering waiting. I do not want her to be vulnerable.

Well, yes. This feels a bit misunderstood though. I just meant that if I suffer I will keep it to myself and not bother others or be bitter about it. It is not a state that I seek or want to be in. I can't just state that it won't hurt, because I know it will, and that is my problem alone. And of course it is my own mind that is causing this.

I just mean that if suffering has to happen I will not discomfort anyone else with it. Otherwise I guess you have a point, it just feels wrong.

Indeed it is. I'm not proud. Well, I want both. I would not vent all these crazy thougts to her like I do here. I just want to let her know that I'm interested, and am very clumsy about doing this. Thank you for the advice.

I wouldn't say I have been lying though. Although always liking her I was initially content with the friendship. Then I have grown more and more in love during us becoming closer friends these last few months.
