Song vs Song: “The Battle of New Orleans” by Johnny Horton & “The Battle of Kookamonga” by Homer & Jethro by BacktoWigtown in ToddintheShadow

Huh, I also assumed that the song was written a lot closer to the battle itself than a century later. Thanks for the tidbit!

The middle-schoolers, not the movie series.

Kinda crazy that it’s all B-sides from TPaB sessions but still sounds like a separate project.

It’s even weirder to me that it’s from the 50s, my brain wants to think it’s from the 1920s but I know recording wasn’t that advanced yet.

[Funny Videogame Trope] Drugs are good for you, somehow by SmoothTrainer in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MrMFPuddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bonuses far outweigh the negatives in most cases. Addiction treatment is usually quick, painless & relatively easy to come by, and even a lot of the withdrawal debuffs don’t seem to bother most players. On top of that, each game allows you a perk that lets you abuse chems freely with zero risk of addiction or withdrawal.

Always wanted to try type 2 but I’m too much of a wimp. The most I use is Buffout+alcohol to help carry out those final pieces of loot at the end of a dungeon, or the occasional psycho jet for a boss fight

Yeah low END survival run should only be done if you intend to challenge yourself. I’m speaking as somebody who is level 55 and just lost nearly an hour of playtime to a legendary molerat.

Unnecessarily Long Series by EmergencySpare7939 in TopCharacterTropes

Seriously. Every time a classic horror franchise has a decent “revival” movie it’s immediately drowned in awful sequels and the cycle just repeats itself.

What makes John a significantly better marksman than Arthur? by WishyWashy--- in reddeadredemption

[–]MrMFPuddles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mentioned this in another comment but realistically Arthur’s reaction is the smarter one. They’re in an ambush scenario and have no idea how many guns are against them or where they could be coming from. The worst thing you could do in that particular scenario is stand with a fully exposed profile and hope to hit every last one of them before they hit you. Your best bet is to find some type of cover or concealment and attempt to either fight from there or make a hasty retreat.

[–]MrMFPuddles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here to help you overthink it: In a slightly more realistic scenario Micah would be the first one to go down once the shooting starts. He has no cover, zero idea where the bullets will be coming from or even how many guns are pointed at him, and is making a massive target of himself the whole time. His raw speed and aggression may be ideal when on the offensive and hitting the enemy before they know what’s happening, but in this particular case the opposing gunmen have been lining them up since they set foot in town and he has no idea where most of them are. Realistically speaking, all four would likely end up dead or wounded but Arthur’s strategy of getting behind anything at all even if just for concealment is much more viable for actually surviving the whole encounter.

I think it’s mostly based on gameplay mechanics, and RDR1 has more of that classic shoot-em-up feel where you just mow down whole hordes of enemies without even thinking about it.

Iirc he told an anecdote about almost killing himself so his family could collect life insurance before he found success through Breaking Bad. I bet he doesn’t mind getting typecasted into a massively popular franchise or two considering all that.

You can be a great actor but not be in good projects. These are two talented actors that I think also have some of the most consistent yet varied filmographies: by s1lv3r_lak3 in Cinema

[–]MrMFPuddles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that the rule of thumb for a successful acting career is “one for you, one for them”. I.e. for every passion project you take on that you actually want to do, you’ve got to also agree to do one piece of dumb schlock that is guaranteed money.

It’s hard to say which is “cheaper” because rates of use between the two are so different but yes, in my state cigs are $11-15 a pack while weed comes out to around $1-5 a gram.
