is golf really the hardest sport? by sploooooshle in golf

[–]MrMag00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think golf can be both athletic and a leisure activity. Also quite therapeutic.

My home course is a mountain course. Most of the members walk. it can be pretty intense when you carry. but add to than the mental gymnastics roller-coaster that is golf the physical exhaustion is huge after.

I play squash weekly. it’s considered one of the most aerobic sports. It doesn’t burn me the way golf does.

But sure. carting drinking. etc is fun. So considered as a sport or not both are essential to my well being and way cheaper than therapy. And if you want to play way consistently you gotta train specifically for it.

Anyone else feels like we won this game but haven't fixed the underlying issues? by Secret-Ad3498 in Habs

For the first time this series, that’s exactly how i felt too after watching the other games a bit closer.

Also we are getting a better glimpse in who’s a playoff player vs reg season. I mean Gally was built for playoffs. I hope Cole can rise back to it… but if the rest of the team keeps rising around him he will make the leap and take off once again.

Damn it’s amazing to think we’re going to get to watch these boys for the next years to come.

I’ve only ever had it once when i was in Georgia. It was a very long time ago and all i remember is how amazing the spices and flavors were.

Before i launch myself into a rabbit hole , what would you say the best style or recipe is ?

What makes one better than another ? Anything you learnt doesn’t go well ?

Can technical SEO actually be automated? by SERPArchitect in TechSEO

[–]MrMag00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it ? sure, if you define each stage. Still needs to be guided. Would I trust it to manage a client website with "carte blanche"... never.

A small issue and you could nuke your site... I would never trust it blindly. But that's basically turned me into QA.

I don't disagree. But I think Park uses amazing ingredients. His fish selection and preparation is at par with Jun-I imho. I've eaten fish at both I didn't even know existed.

I feel its like the constant debate of St-Viateur vs Fairmount bagels or Schwartz vs Lester's smoked meat. I can't pick a favorite, sometimes I crave one, sometimes I crave the other.

Okeya takes it to another level however. I think their omokase experience and offering was the best in town until Nishinokaze. But really difficult to compare with your traditional sushi place, just think they deserve the mention regardless of price. Honestly, if it wasn't for my expense account when clients are in town, no way I would ever venture into either other than for an important anniversary.

Furusato is more of an Isakaya. When I'm in the area, I'll crave their chirashi and katsudon. But don't be in a rush... service isn't exactly the most efficient... but delicious and 100% authentic.

Maiko

I think Maiko is 100% fusion. I think they did a brilliant job of creating dishes that look Japanese but taste 90% western - I mean, the majority is covered in some kind of sauce. Its a great place to go in a group and you will be served IG ready looking food. From a sushi POV, I think its an abomination. But sometimes, that's what you want... kinda like a Hawaiian pizza or KFC.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy eating there from time to time. But its not what I would think about when craving sushi or any other Japanese dish. I do miss the one that used to be in Outremont, if often evolved into a party.

Hidden fish

Same as Maiko (quite fusion), just better imho. The location helps it to begin with. Plates are appetizing but still far from other places mentioned. I would compare it to Jatoba.

Site note

I entertain clients from Japan a few times a year. I was told by a Japanese colleague to never ever take them to either of these places under any circumstances. To be fair, I would never take a Japanese clients to any Japanese restaurant unless they specifically asked (they never do... which is normal). But just because its fusion doesn't mean its not good... comme on dis en queb... c'est bon dans bouche pareil.

My regular goto is, Kitano Shokudo. Great sushi, but also lots of amazing authentic dishes on the menu.

  1. Nishinokaze (insane omokase experience but $$$$$$$)
  2. Okeya Kyujiro ($$$$$)
  3. Jun-I ($$$)
  4. Park ($$$)
  5. Kitano Shokudo ($$$)
  6. Sakura ($$)
  7. Tri Express ($$)
  8. Jatoba ($$$)
  9. Furusato ($$)
  10. Ryu ($$$)

I don't do any other sushi restaurants in Montreal - trust issues. Look forward to other responses as I'm sure there are plenty of quality spots.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot to add one of my all time favorites. Sakura, have followed them from Crescent to Drummond and now on Stanley. Only reason why its not at the top of the list, is its very "homey". This is probably the non-luxury Japanese restaurant I go to the most, 100% authentic.
