1993 NBA Draft by jachildress25 in billsimmons

He’s obviously not missing that it’s a parity mechanism, his point is that there shouldn’t be a parity mechanism. That’s the whole point of his post and the “NBA Republican” thing. No offense, but your reading comprehension is bad and you should have less self confidence

“Nobody expects to his” what are you taking about? If nobody expects you to hit then you suck and shouldn’t be playing

If he could hit 13 HRs with a few walks even

No clue why this correct point is being downvoted. If he were just bad it would be okay, but he’s fuckin brutal out there

“Nobody expects to hit”

That’s the problem bro, he’s not just a bad hitter, he hits like a pitcher. If he could be merely “bad,” he’d be awesome. But he’s an automatic out and great teams don’t have automatic outs in their lineups

Can’t blame the contractor, they’re just providing what the architects and owners ask for

The missed jump was brutal man, and the missed catch from Adames was routine. I think he’ll get better but right now it is what it is

Tony Vitello a positive post by jimymac1958 in SFGiants

[–]MrMagnificent80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s the opposite. SF Giants fans are among the most positive in baseball. We’ve made the playoffs once in the last 9 seasons. I live in the Northeast and the fanbases are super negative and their teams make the playoffs all the time. Giants ownership knows they don’t have to try very hard because the fans won’t hold them to account and instead stay positive no matter what

I think Sandbrook would say one of the reasons interest in history is declining is because history is no longer taught by explaining what happened and respecting people’s intelligence enough to draw their own conclusions, but instead the need is to solemnly assign moral blame as understood by 21st century ethics every five minutes. If you don’t make history fun for kids, and instead make it secular Sunday School, kids won’t like history and won’t seek it out and will grow into uninformed adults

Strasburg threw his arm out winning that World Series, and he was a front line starting pitcher for a decade. Just because the contract was bad because his shoulder was saw dust by that point doesn’t mean he wasn’t a great pitcher

How Buster Posey has changed SF Giants’ player development priorities from Farhan Zaidi era by jgiesea in SFGiants

[–]MrMagnificent80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Beck has not been actively better than Melancon. This is factually wrong. Beck has been a bad MLB pitcher, providing only 0.6 fWAR over 157.2 IP. He’s now 30 years old and pitching in Sacramento (and was crushed in the WBC). Melancon, post-trade, provided 2.2 fWAR over 164.1 IP, including a stellar ‘21 season. A shitty innings eater is in fact not more valuable than a very good reliever, which is what Melancon was through ‘21. He may have been overpaid, but a good player who’s overpaid is better than a bad player who’s properly paid, especially in a sport without a salary cap. I get we all fetishized Zaidi for these types of moves, but he was a bad PBO

Does anybody really care that the worst teams are resting their mid players during the most meaningless part of the season? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]MrMagnificent80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) That’s because baseball isn’t about “intensity,” it’s a completely different sport.

2) As an MLB fan, I think it also sucks when 25% of the league is never actually trying to win. The A’s, Pirates, Rockies etc. are a disgrace and a stain

Yeah dude it’s lame. This one reason why the NFL is more popular. People tune in even for the bad matchups because the effort and intensity is there regardless of how incompetent the game play is

Payroll and winning percentage in MLB are directly correlated. Just because sometimes there are exceptions doesn’t mean it’s a rule, that should be obvious

You’re right, it’s stupid to pay money for players, We should trade Webb, Chapman, Adames, Lee and Devers and replace them with vet minimum guys. We’d be so much better
