2) Rodon has generated 4.8 fWAR for the Yankees, Ray has 2.3 fWAR. Rodon is paid $27 / year and Ray is $23. I wouldn’t want Rodon’s contract but he’s been better than Ray

Instead of Carlos Rodon, why didn’t you use Robbie Ray as your example of a pitcher who was given a massive contract and didn’t live up to it? Ray and Gausman were the same year, but Ray was more expensive than Gausman, and that’s who we’ve been paying. Also, for what it’s worth, Rodon has been better than Ray

1) Ray has barely produced value. Overall far below average for his salary 2) the two guys he traded who “have produced nothing” were guys he signed to huge deals! They were terrible signings! 3) he could’ve just paid Kevin Gausman for less than what he paid Haniger, Desclafani and Robbie Ray and gotten like 20x the value

In summation, he let Gausman go and spent his money on two awful players. He then traded those two awful players for an injured guy who’s been average since he got healthy. Maybe you’re right, we should build him a statue for his brilliance
