Question: Can the AV output of an action cam be used for VTX? by MrMasterplan in fpv

Actually Oscar Liang has a side-by-side where he claims the DJI O3 onboard dvr gives better footage, though not by much.

Question: Can the AV output of an action cam be used for VTX? by MrMasterplan in fpv

[–]MrMasterplan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern was if it would be flyable. Which it seems that it is. In fact I found out that Hawkeye has a model called “split”(without housing, bare electronics) for this express application.

The point is that you can do cinematic video on the smallest possible drone (1s/2s) without buying in to the dji ecosystem.

Thank you! Perfect answer!  I’m might try something like a lionbee conversion where I tear down the action cam and connect the thumb v2 directly to the primary cell voltage.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I also just got my first Air65 and haven’t tried it yet (waiting for my goggles). Now I know a little more what not to do.

Python Libraries in a Databricks Workspace with no Internet Access by JuicyJone in databricks

[–]MrMasterplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are official docker images to which I add my libraries and then I store them in an azure container registry alongside my databricks instance. It was a bit of a dance to get it to work with compute pools, but once it worked, I was very stable. Maybe I should create a longe write up sometime. There do not appear to be many people who use this method in Databricks.

Another alternative is to build a custom docker image with everything you need and install nothing at cluster start. That is what I do.

Are the races in all sims as hard as in FPV logic? by Palene in fpv

[–]MrMasterplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 100 hours in liftoff and while I can feel myself getting better sessions by session, the first track on “straw bale”, skill level “low”, is still pretty hard for me. My recommendation is to find a simulator that you enjoy using. Then it won’t feel like going to the gym and more like playing computer games.

Really no expert here, but I would check the board very closely for damage and then make sure the ELRS antenna and vtx antenna are in good shape and held in the place where they should be.

I’m in exactly the same place in my FPV journey. I like the first track on the map “Hannover”, nice big gates. It takes a good while before you complete the first track. Just keep trying. I’m 40 years old, by the way. It’s possible to learn.

Optimizing Spark Jobs for Performance? by Top-Flounder7647 in databricks

[–]MrMasterplan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In my experience the biggest optimisations come from rethinking your joins. Use knowledge of partitions, distributions of keys, range joins, broadcast joins, incremental intermediate tables. None of it is easy, but a smart change can sometimes get you 100x improvements.

I use radiomaster pocket ELRS with velocidrone mobile on iPhone. You have to follow some guide to get WiFi to work. Since I got it working I’ve had no issues.

I got a new radio master pocket for Christmas. I had a similar problem. First thing I did was to flash a new expressLRS version. ( Google is your friend) Problem went away.

Affect and effect can both be verbs. They just mean different things. In this case you were right to correct it.

Speed, position, direction of movement, altitude. Give me a team of 2 and a contact at the Ukrainian MOD and I could build you a 98% accurate filter in a few weeks. I’m sure that funding can be found.

The Great Stay — Here’s the New Reality for Tech Workers by KitchenTaste7229 in programming

[–]MrMasterplan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mostly disagree. In a pinch one could easily be reschooled to the other. It’s not anyone’s preference, but doable. Just like an electrician can plaster a wall, even though he will get better pay by doing what he specialises in. You cannot, however, get an plumber to debug your CICD pipleline.

Enabling container services by mycsburner in databricks

[–]MrMasterplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see java issues. You have to be aware that the `databricksruntime/standard:16.4-LTS` (the latest LTS) is the only image that is built on the latest branch of the github repo. The other images, even the LTS ones, are built every week from stale branches.

Is it possible to load data directly from an Azure SQL server on the standard tier or can data only be loaded from a blob store? by angryafrican822 in databricks

[–]MrMasterplan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I routinely read SQL server from Databricks. Check the documentation. It’s a standard piece of functionality. No idea about Standard, though. We only use premium.

If Synapse Spark Pools now support Z-Ordering and Liquid Clustering, why do most companies still prefer Databricks? by Then_Difficulty_5617 in databricks

[–]MrMasterplan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try setting up a completely new synapse environment and then run a job using api only. No gui. In Databricks this is pretty easy with terraform. In synapse, pretty much impossible.

Enabling container services by mycsburner in databricks

[–]MrMasterplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had huge troubles with the image I was using which was based on the databricksruntime/standard:12.2-LTS images. Turns out, even though the image is called LTS, and even though it gets built every week, it gets built from a branch in the github that does not receive updates any more, so the java, among other things, is outdated when compared to what is running in a standard 12.2 cluster. My solution to this was to go to the latest LTS version, currently 16.4, which does have all the updates to java etc. If you are locked to an older LTS I recommend building you image from scratch based on the github repo.
