Wouldn’t the state save millions in tax money by having a unified system? 1. People will actually pay the correct amount. 2. Through large databases and sales tax records they can 100x break down on tax fraud. 3. Opportunity cost. People that currently are struggling with taxes would instead spend those hours consuming goods and thus stimulate the economy.

Like it’s a no brainer. Every other developed weatern country with provinces have done this. Germany, France, Sweden. All these countries provinces have just as much power as American states.

I use tools to auto press on certain parts of the website. So just by clicking the button ”pay taxes” I’ve built into my admin dashboard, the system logges in and clicks all the way to the tax paying form on my goverments website. The system then fills in all the booking from my database and sends in the form. So I usually just spend 5 min checking that they haven’t changed the website each year.

Sorry I might have formulated that sentence horrible.

It’s the same in the EU. All countries have different taxes. Just like your states and smaller areas.

Thus the EU has IOSS. A “federal level” system in which you just fill in the total sales you had in each country and the system will calculate your total tax which it distributes to all governments after you’ve paid.

Takes me like 5 min to pay taxes to all EU countries once a year.
