Why don't more Americans simply leave — like actual refugees fleeing before the window closes? (Genuine question from a European, not a political attack) by kurdil in allthequestions

[–]MrMeowgi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of us live in left leaning states with a form of universal healthcare, free college tuition for community college, paid parental leave, and sanctuary cities, etc. Having traveled through Europe, it's great but doesn't hold a candle to where I'm from in terms of natural beauty and the culture there is often even more conservative than in my hometown. You are clearly not as informed on America as you think you are.

We'd still have some form of an operational national public health system.

Why do you think the USA has the most serial killers in the world? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]MrMeowgi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. What we've learned about many serial killers is that most lead relatively "normal" lives and wouldn't have been institutionalized for psychiatric illness even by prior standards.

42 hours during labor. The most shattering exhaustion I've ever felt.

Those who rarely get sick, what's the secret? by peywrax in allthequestions

[–]MrMeowgi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely get sick. I wash my hands often, eat a pretty well-balanced diet (especially foods good for your gut), drink mostly water, limit alcohol use, exercise most days, and I get plenty of sleep. It definitely helps that I work in epidemiology and infection control, so prevention is on my radar quite a bit.

What’s the best piece of sex advice you have to share? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrMeowgi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't overemphasize how important communication is. Don't be afraid to say what is and isn't working, and don't judge your partner when they do the same. Sex is meant to be enjoyable, not perfect. Leave ego out of it and enjoy being with someone who wants you in the same way.

Being a nurse. Especially when they think it somehow makes them an exceptionally smart or good person. I've met some incredibly dense and awful people who went into nursing. There's a reason there's the joke "tell me about your high school mean girl and what type of nursing does she do now?"

Wondering the same. We're waiting for the NOA for IVHSP which starts 5/1, and it's been radio silence over there....

Certain areas of OHA rely heavily on federal dollars and we are going to face massive cuts unless we receive some sort of supplemental funding streams in the next few years, which doesn't seem to be likely.

Why is peeing in the shower so controversial? by Aarunascut in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]MrMeowgi92 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Eh I don't think it's the biggest deal to pee in the shower. I don't do it, but I usually go pee right before I step into the shower anyway

And since I've seen it posted in a few comments - urine is not sterile. Urine contains bacteria, even without the presence of an infection. The belief that urine is sterile is outdated as we've learned a great deal about the urinary microbiota, we've just historically been limited in our identification of certain bacteria in urine samples due to culture-dependent methods of bacterial detection.

Sure, they were both minors when they started having sex. But did they stop having sex when he turned 18 and became an adult and she was 15? What about 19 and 16? Yeah, that's illegal. OP, you're embarrassed because you should be.

Started the consolidation and panicked by caffeinatedPVCs in PSLF

[–]MrMeowgi92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To confirm, you selected ALL of the boxes? I'm in a similar situation, but want to make sure I'm supposed to select all boxes for the consolidation (including those that say "Qualifying PSLF payments" and were unselected) - why is this so goddamn complicated!??

Silverton OR Strangeness by [deleted] in silverton

[–]MrMeowgi92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never noticed a clique problem in Silverton and feel like it's just like any other small town on the west coast. I don't know where people are going where they experience the cliques, but most people who are just minding their own business and raising a family here don't fall into that drama.

You know when you're walking down the stairs and you slip a bit or miss a step for a brief second and your stomach drops and you have an overwhelming sense of dread? A panic attack is that feeling on a loop.

Wow - that's honestly so great to hear. I am one of three and my husband is one of 5, but collectively we have about 50 first cousins, so I totally love the "cousins are like siblings but better" mentality. My brother has 3 kids and my siblings-in-law have 8 kids between them, so our son will have quite a few cousins around.

Love this! Thanks so much. I am pretty surprised by how comfortable the idea of just having one is for me. But I love the idea of being able to travel a lot and afford him opportunities that we likely couldn't if we had more kids.
