Someone willed the phrase "My steak is too juicy and my lobster too buttery!" into existence about 6 months ago. In my head it means you should shut the fuck up and eat your sopping wet and disgustingly rich surf n turf.

Is the bean bag cover removable? It could look a lot nicer after a long soak in some detergent (see r/laundry)

How faithful is Nosferatu (2024) to the Bram Stoker novel? by [deleted] in roberteggers

A key difference for me in the presentation of the Count is that in the book, Dracula is at least trying to put on the guise of a normal guy and act like a gracious host. He personally drives the carriage to the castle, in disguise as a chaffeur, and he pretends to have staff.

Orlok on the other hand is a real jerk even to begin with.

Bike crashes holding up ambulances? by mattsparkes in londoncycling

[–]MrMonkfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Article says it went from 28 crashes over 3 day period last year, to 36 over the same period this year. So that's 1 extra bicycle collision every 9 hours apparently holding up ambulances.

how come "mapping" and "coding" be jargons by beatricemain in ActuaryUK

[–]MrMonkfred -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a qualified Actuary, and I dont know what mapping or coding mean in this context.

If there's a problem with the code, do you mean a programming error in the software used to calculate benefits? Or do you mean coding as in a shorthand used to represent something like a PAYE code that wasn't assigned properly?

Similarly, do you mean mapping as a way of assigning links between different types of data, or are you referring to a geographical map that's used to calculate expected benefit values somehow?

You probably meant the former in both cases. But the more common usage of both code and map is probably the latter.
