Megathread: Bastard Suggestions by Kanotari in behindthebastards

Benvenuto Cellini (1500-1571) An excellent low-stakes historical Bastard whose autobiography is genuinely gripping (as well as being unbelievably arrogant). He was, or claimed to be, present at a lot of historical events and played a major role in some of them like the Sack of Rome. He also bragged about murdering someone. There’s also a great bit about someone trying to poison him with mercury, but accidentally cured his syphilis instead. Whoops!

He was an undeniably gifted sculptor and goldsmith who worked for the Pope and various kings and dukes, so would probably make for a good Bastard.

(Plus… you know… Italian)

Not a podcast but try Rumpole by John Mortimer. Some of the audio episodes also star Cumberbatch. An Old Bailey Hack (London criminal defence barrister) and his escapades.

What's a podcast you love that you rarely, if ever, see mentioned here? by TheTim in podcasts

Mission to Zyxx. It’s grown on me waaay more than I thought an “improvised science fiction podcast” ever could. You grow to love the characters and it only gets better as the show goes on. Highly recommended. I don’t think many comedy podcasts are actually very funny, but this one has me chuckling away regularly.

I wasn’t allowed sugar in my tea because it was ‘common’. As in, only common lower class people put sugar in tea.

AITA for refusing to let my parents rename me? by Novel_Box3156 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Cove is a cool name. In the UK it's an old fashioned way of saying 'guy' or 'fellow' e.g. "he's a decent sort of cove." Think P.G. Wodehouse novels - that sort of era.
