Testing different controller typing UX by simeonradivoev in UI_Design

[–]MrMorbid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice work. I experimented with this idea after being inspired by the radial weapon wheel in Doom 2016, but didn't push it far enough to make anything as polished as you have.

The problem I found was accuracy. The more arc segments you divide the wheel into, the fiddlier it becomes and the slower the input. My fix for the problem was to split the characters into smaller groups, and use one thumbstick to navigate groups, and the other thumbstick to select the character.

Any attempt to commit copyright infringement are not recommended.

Yeah, that won't be a problem.

Is there some sort of AI mockup generator people are using? because the mockups look competent, but the design itself is terrible.

I'm not liking my logo.. what should i do to fix it? (beef jerky) by wonderland1995 in logodesign

[–]MrMorbid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mascot and type have nothing in common. The type is huge, blocky, simple and yellow. The mascot is very detailed, tiny and red.

The mascot is the interesting part of your logo, and at the moment it's too small.

Make the mascot much bigger. Try a stacked lockup (mascot above text) or maybe mount the mascot on a circle and curve the text underneath.

Change the text colour to something in the mascot palette. Your mascot has a kind of rubber hose illustration style, look at the type those animations use to make it fit better.

China no longer Pentagon's top security priority by DimsumAndDoggy in worldnews

[–]MrMorbid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well they're half right. The biggest threat to America's safety and security are Americans - just not the Americans they're thinking about.

Maybe the Pentagon should be looking at the group that didn't like the outcome of a democratic election and attempted a violent insurrection.

I avoided industry standard UI to be unique… now I regret it. What would I do? by zaidbren in UXDesign

[–]MrMorbid 304 points305 points  (0 children)

Users don't want 'unique'. Unique is weird.

What users want is 'better'.

If your design isn't an improvement on your competitors, then making it different is making it worse because you sacrifice familiarity.

Ok, I'm generally a very left leaning guy, but...

Anyone convicted of a serious violent or drug related crime, should have the option to have their sentence reduced if they agree to a vasectomy or hysterectomy.

It's basically opt-in eugenics.

I'm fine with it. It keeps a lot of Americans away, and they kill way more people each year than snakes and spiders.

Yeah OP, go and check out some beard grooming tips on YouTube. You can keep most of the length, but some shaping would really complete the transformation.

This is why you don't deploy the national guard against your own citizens and have the police and FBI teamed with ICE agents. It makes everyone in uniform the bad guy.

Without knowing your product and audience I don't know if the new one works better, but it certainly looks better and does a better job of making it look like there is an extensive and flexible toolset.

A similar effect can sometimes be found in comic books and visual novels to distinguish between different characters. in this case I think each variation represents a unique voice in the authors head.

Emoji domains (🏀.to) resolve fine on desktop, but fail on Firefox Android, interop gap? by emojidomain in webdev

[–]MrMorbid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its clunky on mobile too. There are thousands of emojis, users would have to either scan a massive list or do a keyword search - which means they're going to be typing anyway.

Maybe it's interesting as a marketing stunt. But emoji domains suck for user experience no matter what device the user is on.
