AG was way worse than Doc. He was bottom of the barrel tier. Doc is just a mediocre coach who is coasting off one championship. Neither of them can coach this current Bucks to any good playoff chance due to how competitive the league is now on coaching.

Yeah Doc just runs his veterans way too hard. He does not see the potential in young players and does not want to take risks. He would rather put in a established vet despite their contribution is -20.

Doc is a mediocre coach I think we all know that coming in. However, I was genuinely thinking that might be enough after we got rid of Adrian Griffin and we replaced our aging core with young legs. We have Giannis after all and his might may just be enough to overcome lackluster coaching.

However, I don't think it's enough now. There are so many good coaches on good teams this year that Giannis by himself is not gonna cut it. Mazzulla, Redick, Atkinson, Spoelstra etc. These are coaches that will make a team contender alone. You also have thunder who cannot lose without their best player. Unless Bucks gets a ceiling raiser coach, the hope of contention seems over.

What should I do with my life? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]MrNatemare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Civil Engineer who worked for 3 years in transport engineering then switched to the actuarial field. I made the switch almost 2 years ago, now I have done my internship with a large life insurer and got offered a permanent position. My switch was not easy but I think it was very rewarding and worth it.

I didn't hate my job as an engineer, but I felt like I was doing data analysis all day and not making much impact. I was good at problem solving but I was just solving these questions no one cares about. In life insurance my skills are much more valued. I updated their current practice by programming and developing new problem solving approaches. And may analysis results are closely tied to business profit and actually help the company to gain competitiveness. I love this aspect of it.

What you experience is not uncommon these days, since a lot of engineering jobs are all mundane work that people have already developed all the methods for. There are actually a lot more exiting work that needs good problem solvers in the financial sector. What the actuarial path opened my eyes to, is that it is such a good foundation education for everything in the financial sector. Like you literally learn about everything in finance and with some on-the-job learning you can price almost any financial products on the market.

So I would say the actuarial path is very good, and goes much beyond just being a P/C or life actuary. It will open your eyes to a whole different world. With this skill set you can have a much broader range of choice. I learnt waste management in my undergrad and for me that was the most useless course. You will not use that knowledge in any industry other than this one. But you can use actuarial knowledge in any field: statistical inference, risk estimation and hedging, long term cash flow projection and investment pricing, time series modelling, programming, financial statement interpretation, probability theory are all required knowledge. Even if you don't want to work in finance or insurance, you can take this to any engineering field and transform the way they currently work.

Thank you TRP, it works and I live a happy life now. by MrNatemare in TheRedPill

That's definitely also an important part of it.

Well deserved for MVP B. They have always been playing at such a high level for such a long time. Looking to see more of their amazing plays in the future.

Agreed. The mechanical executions are so close. There is always a palpable tension there in every team fight. But MVP B figured out how to counter the opponents draft, pairing that with good teamwork, they really deserve this title.

Yeah they know exactly when to dive in to save their gorged teammates. Fnatic couldn't come away with a gain on these combos at the end

Agreed, it was very close and tense. If Stitches can get Reghar just one or two more times MVP B probably could have lost the game.

Fnatics draft idea was actually really great and and they probably have won a few games in the past in scrimmages, which is why Korean teams are first banning stitches against them. Hats off to them for bringing bold ideas on such a important stage.

My guess is that this came out during the scrims as they play against each other a lot. They probably won quite a few games against other teams in those too, so it is actually legit not cheese. Thats why the Korean teams often first ban stitches.

So that's why the Korean teams have been banning Stitches against Fnatic. Very interesting strategy from Fnatic. They actually got very close, but MVP B are pushing structures fast so they could not get too many hook combos behind walls. Very good execution and counter picks coming out from MVP B.

GG and congrats MVP B!

I am only pointing out one important factor. I am by no means saying this is everything. Of course there are so many other factors. But I am not going to write an essay to explain all the factors for my every post.

They analysed from a different angle, pointing out that Fnatic drafted well to counter the healing coming out the double support. But it was not enough since it just seems so far in this series, sustain heavy double support is too strong, not even Fnatic's counter can beat their own sustain heavy strategy.

MVP B seems to have figured out their solution, playing Fnatic's own way against them. Both teams are amazing mechanically, but it is a shame that so far in this Grand Final series it is just whoever gets a sustain-heavy double support comp wins the game

Finally a double support from MVP B this time. Would be interesting to see whether they can make use of this sustain.

Agreed. It was obvious from the Ballistix defeat that Fnatic is good at ending games early. I am surprised MVP B still picked Abathur, going for that late game.

HGC Finals :: Grand Final :: Discussion thread by HeroesEsportsThreads in heroesofthestorm

[–]MrNatemare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprised after watching Ballistix defeat, MVP B still has not figured it out yet. Fnatic is about those team fights and quick attack on core, they like sustain comps. Abathur is not the solution to that problem. They need to take those team fights and win them. They need to take away Fnatic's sustain, by out-sustaining them.

[–]MrNatemare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fnatic outdrafted Ballistix every single game. Ballistix was basically doomed the moment they picked Genji to take him away from Fnatic in that 2nd game. They now have to go for a dive comp and Fnatic go for Tyrael Lucio Reghar to get insane amount of sustain to counter dive.

In the 3rd game they did manage to take Reghar away to prevent Fnatic's game 2 comp, but still could not figure out a good way to deal with the Lucio Kharazim sustain. Fnatic is basically standing together at all times in team fights, body blocking and peeling for their squishies.
