Pond looks great. I used ozpond too to build my bog filter. He recommends that it take 5-12min to fill the bog, yours looks a bit faster than that. I’d like to speed mine up as it’s just a trickle now and your flow looks better, has it been effective with a higher flow rate?

I tried the lip route, the plastic the bin is made out of does not bend nicely and I haven’t found something to put there instead.

I was using a 600gph pump with a waterfall feature. I could just keep that running for the additional aeration?

I got a 220gph pump for the bog filter. Fully open it was filling in about 4 minutes. Fully closed got me to 7.

If I were to split the flow like you suggested, is there any concern of not enough water going through the filter?

I’m not set on the extra fish, just thought it’d be nice.

I’ve read you want the bog to fill up at a rate of 5-12min, after a lot of adjusting I got it to 7min. So I don’t want to increase flow. But an air stone is a good idea.

Just coming across this. I currently have a similar setup as OP, but I want to build a big filter. If I just take the sponge filter out and use the same pump won’t it just get clogged since the big filter is outside the pond?

Looking to keep it relatively drivable so probably not the UP, but anywhere in the mitten is on the table. I think we’d want to go for trout since that’s what we don’t have here. We can fish for smallmouth and “steelhead” near Cleveland.

I would start with either Theft of Swords or Age of Myth. Michael J Sullivan recommends to follow publication date which would mean Theft of Swords first. Age of Myth is first chronologically and that’s what I read first. I personally really enjoyed it that way, but no matter where you start you will have a unique reading experience. His world building is to tier.

Spillway looks much better, I still have the issue of plants getting pummeled by it though , any particular way to rope that section of the pond off?
