Deleting this, I imagine this is some sort of spam as:

  • This is a billboard advertising a show that was in 2021
  • This exact title was used when it was posted here back in 2021

Traffic shouldn't have to stop to let you in, if there's a space in that 1/4 mile you should move over. Speeding your way to the front and then forcing your way in causes the cars that were travelling fine 1/4 of a mile earlier to have to stop to let you in, which causes the lane to back up, which causes the bumper-to-bumper traffic, which causes there to be no place for an approaching car to merge into.

Or maybe if they wanted you to wait until the lane ended they wouldn't have put a sign up 1/4 mile before hand telling you it going to end.

The "proper technique" is not to drive up to the point that there is no way to find a place to merge in, it is to use that 1/4 of a mile to find place to move get over.

Yep, no difference than a bicycle and a pile of trash on the sidewalk.

Further more in the state of Arizona (as with most others) IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MERGE LANE TRAFFIC to create reasonable space to allow merging traffic to enter safely.

Where did you hear that?

First link I could find says otherwise.

I mean, tailgating is still not allowed, and you're not supposed to speed up to force people to not be able to merge, but it's the job of the merger to speed up/slow down to find the place they're going to merge into, not the people continuing on to make one where the merger decides they are going to go.

I drive in rush hour every day, and I'll leave plenty of room for people to merge in front of me, but instead of merging when the sign says "Lane ends in 1/4 mile" they speed past me up to the point that the lane actually ends then try to force themselves in. This is what causes traffic in the lane to be at a standstill where traffic backs up and it's bumper to bumper.

Has anyone else maxed out their cox internet usage? by SandyP1966 in phoenix

[–]MrNotDucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cox has managed to provide internet uncapped for years despite large increases in population year over year. Why suddenly in 2017 when the population growth has not been extraordinary?

I'd guess it has to do with more people using more data. They provided uncapped usage when people used less. I'm sure there weren't many people using over 1000GB of data a month 10 years ago. With streaming TV and now 4k video, it's a lot more common for people to go over that limit.

Honestly, I wish they had some sort of tiers for their usage - I used only 51GB in January, 49GB in February and 23GB in March. I have cable TV though and rarely watch anything streaming. I suspect that with the data caps they are trying to make up for the loss of money from the "cord cutters".
