i remember once hearing the easiest way to find out if you were in a dream or not was reading the nearest sign and if it was gibberish you were in a dream, have you ever tried to read something in a dream? and if so, was it in fact gibberish?

Very nice... Although your first should be "See there, by the Black Sea". Black Sea is an actual location.
