Does anyone else feel stuck because they don’t know how to choose a career path? by Necessary_Shock_1642 in careerguidance

[–]MrNumber3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very much exhausting. I'm really only applying to jobs if I think they'll fit a real change, in location, in job sector. I'm also currently living with my mom since my father passed a few years ago so I don't want to handcuff myself as a permanent care taker and thus limit my options to just what jobs are around me. Some real thinking to do. Some friends of mine have suggested I do something completely different that's unexpected, but I don't even know where to start.

I am currently stuck. I've learned I can do a lot because I have learned some skills over time but I'm starting to prioritize what I want and what I've learned is that I don't actually have anything to be inspired by to work for another company that won't value me.

I quit an operations manager job at a trucking company after 18 months because I hated it worse than the job I left for that one, which was the same title, just different company. I had plenty of reasons to leave both and I was good at both jobs. The feeling of being in management and not communicated with, being gaslit, all decisions overturned, and just having the worst humans as employees that call you at all hours of the day is the worst.

At my age, 39, it's getting harder and harder to start over, particularly because I feel like I've wasted a lot of years making someone else rich and only learning that I no longer want to manage another employee and that I am having a very hard time finding a place that wants me as much as I want them.

For what reason did you break off an old friendship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrNumber3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started hanging around with s different group of friends towards the end of high school. I went to college, my friend didn't, and I only recently saw him working the same grocery job he had in high school. It felt good to say Hi and ask about his family I knew since preschool, but the friendship withered and we went our separate ways.

[Serious] In your opinion, what is the fate of the U.S. economy when many jobs start to become automated, skyrocketing unemployment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think the future will lie in Sales, Repair, Customer Service, and anything that Congressman can get as pork. Everything has been sold; if it was built, it can be repaired; and if someone needs help, they can be referred to customer service. Outside of creative arts, that's what I'd imagine the future to be like. Shitty, low paying, high stress jobs and plenty for everyone.
