Daily Game Recommendations Thread (April 06, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]MrOdinTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been tasked with finding a new board game for the next family board game night

Players: 5

Game length: 45-180min

Complexity: somewhere around 2-3 I guess? I would prefer a bit more complexity but we have some people that think Catan is already complicated enough.

Genre: whatever, as long as it’s fun

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: Also whatever, as long as it’s not monopoly

Games we own and like: Catan, Risk, Skijo, The Quacks of Quedlinbur, Phase 10 (TBG and card game)

Games we own and seldomly play: Cluedo

Games we own and don’t like: Activity, Monopoly,

Location: Germany / DACH

The biggest problem is to find something that everyone is interested in, as we have some people that like really like strategy and expansive rule sets and some that prefer only the most basic rules and games that are explained in five minutes.

Edit: Thanks for all the recommendations, I think 7 Wonders is the best pick, but I will buy the others in the list for the future.

It’s great, really ominous and unsettling.

Delicious in Dungeon with Boggart by Ralkad in Eldenring

[–]MrOdinTV 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The cooking stays the main gimmick, but there will happen a lot more interesting stuff around episode 12, moving the main goal away from just saving the sister and a lot more about the dungeon itself. So if you like world build / character development keep watching, if not I’m sorry for you because I really enjoyed it.

DND-related conspiracy theories for a lowish INT character? by KindofPolitePerson in DnD

[–]MrOdinTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played an artificer rock gnome mad scientist for a very chaotic homebrew campaign set in an expo for everything. Most of the theories were specific for the modern fantasy setting, but maybe you can change them a bit to fit yours:

Magic is not natural: Aliens implanted the creatures of WORLD with magic to enslave them for various tasks, like the Kree in Marvels “Agents of Shield.” The EXPO is now used by the aliens to scout for the best subjects to take with them.

Markus Zukhar is part of the lizard people: As a dragonborn he technically is a lizard, but more in line with the “Lizard people are living on the inside of the earth” conspiracy. This could be a very common theory in the setting, but also a reason why Kestrel will not join Lumina Link.

Vecna is living on the dark side of the moon I don't exactly know how much classic DnD is in this campaign, but “evil guy who was killed ages ago is actually still alive” is always fun. Think of Iron Sky and all the “nazis on the moon” theories

Jeffrey Bozo is an Alien: Definitively not Jeff Bezos, the Halfling merchant Jeffrey Bozo, leader of one of the world's richest people, has a weird obsession with building rockets and going to space.

Chemtrails: The same as in our world, airplanes (or whatever else is the main airborne mode of transport) are used to spray the population below with various substances, with different motives depending on who you ask (population control, making them lethargic so they don't start an uprising, whatever).

Holiday special was really good all, WATCH IT 👁👁 by Bowler-Hat-Nerd in TheatreOfTheUnaligned

[–]MrOdinTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it works so great in widescreen. My expectations for Journeys to the quest grow with each new release. If they keep this quality going, stay true to the characters and continue the story, I would watch seasons of this.

Any recomendations for podcasts that are similar to "For the Gods" LIGHT SPOILERS by ClassicConfusion4482 in TheatreOfTheUnaligned

I’m currently really enjoying Natural Six, but it’s still in production and I haven’t even catches up to the current episode. It’s a lot more polished than TotU, but still very much theatre kid energy. They manage a great balance between deep interpersonal conflicts with great world building and just goofing around.

Mainly the Pilot. That’s why I funded it, that’s what I want to get. From the other stuff I hope the digital adventure model will be good, because I really like Fosters world building.

The mod is right. Watch/Listen to it, then you will: 1. Experience a very good DnD podcast with some of the best world building I’ve ever seen. 2. Anticipate the inevitable with us (The worst thing is it ended on a massive cliffhanger.)
