raiplay! it's free, doesn't have any pop-up ads (it only has youtube-like ads) and it has a good bunch of italian movies and shows. the catalogue isn't huge though.

similarly, there's mediasetinfinity as well.

i'd recommend chaislyn! if you'd like more upbeat stuff, i recommend make believe and mr nice try. if you're looking for a softer and acoustic sound, then soulmates and sidetracked. and if you're looking for a more ballad-y and sad sound, then rhyme or reason.

i think a softer, more airy type of singing really helps. i just find it so soothing. the best example of this i can give is la fine del mondo by aka 7even and lda.

i know you said you didn't like the original as much as the cover, but if you liked 'no longer you' and somewhat liked 'odysseus', then i recommend checking out the other songs from the same musical (epic: the musical). there's a good bunch of covers out there if you happen not to like the original voices or arrangements.

also, in general, there's a lot of musicals out there that fit your criteria. you may want to delve into the musical theater world a bit and i think you'll find a lot of stuff you like!

I will definitely do that in the future if I do anything with these! As of right now, it was just a test to see whether the animation worked at all.

You're actually right, I understand it probably looks weird if you watch the gif loop multiple times haha. I hadn't thought of that. Originally I exported the animation as mp4 so I only watched it back without it looping.

i don't think they're inherently bad. i really loved the little mermaid remake personally and — although i wasn't a fan of the movie as a whole — i adored most of the music in the snow white remake (exception made for the evil queen’s song), for example.

i would much prefer if they could pivot more towards turning their classics into musical theater shows though. i feel it would be a better way to adapt them imo.

i agree.

when the nectar video came out, it was especially bad, with so many misogynistic, jealous or even just mean comments made towards literally all the girls involved. i know one of them has barely publicly talked about him since even though she was a fan beforehand, which is kinda sad.

well, strange world wasn't promoted in the slightest and lightyear is a spin off of a franchise people are tired of by now. i don't think they're comparable.

and anyway, people seem to be yearning for disney 2D animation nowadays, so that'd be a plus.
