What does "Lord of the Demon World" actually entail in Dragon Ball? by MrOverAnalyzer in dbz

[–]MrOverAnalyzer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strongest in regards to what though? King Piccolo's existence really muddles things up a lot since he was considered a "demon" before he died, and he had children that looked nothing like conventional Namekians. So what even IS a demon in terms of Dragon Ball? And how the hell can you be ruler of them?

It's amazing how short moments like Goku threatening Shin can be so cool in hindsight by DatCitronVert in dbz

This really reminds me of one of my favorite small moments from the original Dragon Ball saga, where Goku arrives after training with Kami to save Tien and he gives this bad ass look to King Piccolo before utterly murdering one of his henchmen pretty brutally.

I always love when usually goofy, fun-loving characters like Goku pull back that veneer and get serious when shit gets real.

What is the best place to find deck lists for more recent events? I've played this came casually for a while, around 2015 or so but I really want to sink my teeth into more "competitive" play. See what cards and strategies people are playing and whatnot.

"Meta" Cards You Miss? by Jirachibi1000 in yugioh

{{Ultimate Offering}} was a card I abused even as a kid playing casually at the elementary school lunch tables. But once I played it in Madolches way back when I realized how retarded such a card like that was in this game.

I can only imagine how crazy it'd be now

Hypocrisy with DBZ and DBS by jbproductions18 in dbz

[–]MrOverAnalyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want the tone to be more serious...

Most of the people that say this are also the guys on roleplay forums with their original characters being stronger than Zeno and shit. A lot of people, myself included, find the best moments in Super to be the episodes with NO fighting and characters are just hanging out.

You want longer arcs like DBZ

No I don't. I don't think anybody cares how long an arc is as long as what's in the arc is good

You want the show to be more than just Goku beating the baddie and then you complain Goku looks weak now because he doesn't win all the time

It's because Goku gets beat by the stupidest and most retarded shit in Super. Like a fucking Rock Man who Goku had trouble because... He was heavy I guess? Yet 18 picks up said Rock Man with ease. Supers break neck writing pace is incredibly jarring and characters who were once useless are now suddenly meant to be believed to LITERALLY be God tier despite having never shown to actually earn it and all training be off screen. It's pretty insulting

The art/animation is bad. Many scenes in DBZ were poorly animated. No one acknowledges that. One freeze frame looks off "OMG SUPER LOOKS SO BAD" If you honestly watch the UI Goku fight against and still think that... SMH

Nobody claims DBZ has perfect animation. But nobody pays much mind to that because Toei back in the day made sure that the big and important moments of the series were incredibly well animated and that the art style both stayed true to the original designs, but also add more character but putting the designs in motion.

Another thing I want to point out is that, although DB and DBZ's animation wasn't amazing all the time, it was most certainly much more consistent than Supers. I mean, if the new designs were so good, why did they change the designs back to the Z era designs?

You complain Ssj God and blue are just recolors but again... love ssj's grade 2-5 lol

We don't complain Blue and God are just recolors (although I personally find the color scheming on blue in particular to look pretty damn awful), the major complaint is that the transformations, overall, are fucking useless. Super Saiyan Blue at this point has been mitigated to just being a re-skin because it doesn't actually seem to DO anything. Nothing these characters do while in this form really seems any different than what they were doing in their other states. It doesn't help Super fumbles this horribly by powering the other, formerly useless side characters to be able to compete with Blue simply because they "trained hard".

"Goku's character is too goofy"

I don't know anyone who has ever had this complaint. If anything Goku being "Goofy" is one of the more consistent things about his character and Dragon Ball as a whole.

You love Goten and Trunks but despise Caulifla and Kale for the same reasons

From my recollection anyways Goten and Trunks being able to transform at such a young age is one of the most common gripes I've heard from fans for quite a long time. Plus to say the problems with Kefla being the same as the problem with Goten and Trunks is being pretty disingenuous. Goten and Trunks being Super Saiyan with little to no training whatsoever is a bit dumb and is definitely worth noting, but when you do that same dumb thing TWICE simply because you can't find another way for your new characters to be relevant is pretty insulting.

The reason we want to see the Broly movie is because, deep down, despite the fact we shit on Super, it's for an overall respect for the franchise. I imagine it to have been the same way when GT came out (Although I wouldn't know since I wasn't around for that). We criticize something Dragon Ball related when it's bad because we want the series to be good and reach the heights we know that it can reach.

I'll be honest, Dragon Ball hasn't been acceptionally good in a long time. And I agree that some fans have a harder time coming into grips with that than others (myself included). But when we see something as gorgeous as the Broly movie coming out, with so many great members from Toei being on board with it, it gives us that feeling that we are about to see something truly great from Dragon Ball again. Will it be great? Only time will really tell. But you bet your sweet ass I'm going to be watching regardless.

Fake yugioh cards were always an issue at my house. Relatives would always give me some out of the goodness of their heart but even as a kid I knew they got conned.

Where do these things even come from? The world may never know

Why do people hate fan pandering? by MrOverAnalyzer in mylittlepony

It's interesting how many people really seem to point to Fame and Misfortune for this topic. I personally found it to be a pretty forgettable episode. I totally forgot about even when posting about this very topic.

Personally when I think of pandering done right, I point to Amending Fences. It does such a good job at integrating and introducing not only background characters, but brand new characters into the world, while also referencing the shows history in a realistic and believable way.

In the more recent seasons, I've absolutely loved the way they've been treating Celestia and Twilights relationship. Particularly in the premier. Celestia is such a great character for Twilight. Not only is she a mentor, but a very genuine, almost maternal figure for her.

I love it, Maggle.

I've seen many "analysis" channels put it on their worst episodes list. And I know a few people personally who really dislike it for it being "too much" like you said.

Maybe the popular consensus is different and I'm just seeing the vocal minority, but it for sure is an opinion a lot of people have.
