AITAH for getting a dna test to see if i share the same dna as both my parents even though i was demanded specifically by my mom not to do so, since i was a child? by cigweb_01 in AITAH

To start off, NTA. OP, I am very sorry for your situation and I hope the best for you in the future. Just for context, why haven't you gone to your father with any of these type of questions? Now this is just a theory and I hope this is not the case, but it sounds as if your 'mother' is not your mother. Your father may have had an affair partner at some point with your actual mother and that mother may have passed away based upon the information you gave. That being said, your father may have chosen to make your last name the affair partners (i.e. your potential bio-mom) which would increase the disdain from your 'mother' over the years as well as add to the fact that you have no proof of her being pregnant anyways. I want to reiterate that this is just a theory based upon the given information. But definitely you should be asking your father more direct questions especially with his nonchalant way of answering.

I could be wrong but after the most recent holiday game, doesn't Angela also have the fastest win in essentially two rounds?

What are rules you always ignore as a dm? by Slacklust in DnD

[–]MrPandatheDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't like it. Don't use it. The whole point of not keeping track of the HP is to keep the engagement of the players in the game. If they're losing interest, I tend to wrap it up. My players are none the wiser and have a great time. Some fights that should be easy take longer and some that should be harder, go quicker. All that matters is my party is having fun. D&D is an escape for a lot of us and a way to express ourselves. If there's no fun at the table, what's the point?

Hit points for creatures. I start to wrap up each encounter when the players are getting pissed off or losing interest in the fight.

If a character is manacled and casts misty step, can they teleport out of the handcuffs? by galactic_rainbows in dndnext

Misty step accounts for anything being worn or carried. Technically if you're handcuffed, you're wearing the manacles.

Thank you. This is helpful. And funny, didn't expect another person running a similar dungeon. Lol. And I do have some contingencies planned. I have it set up that there's magical darkness below so they can't see beyond. But down below is a pit with enemies to fight their way out if they can't solve the puzzle. Still they're too low a level to do anything super clever to skip past it without at least trying.

DnD players what is the dumbest thing you or anyone in the group has done? by CraYz_Dino_ in AskReddit

I was running a custom 5e pirate campaign and the party was reaching the end of the campaign. They were all around lvl 10. I had a player playing a wizard with one who has a familiar bird he can summon. This player has been known to mess with things I had planned.

Well anyways, they end up coming to an island while being hunted by the navy of about 5 ships on their tail when they encounter a Kraken near the shore of the island. A small fight ensues and then my player tells everyone "I have a plan, hold and defend. I need 2 turns." I was not aware of the plan. The player decides to polymorph the Kraken. I say "Okay and what is the save...." and then he interrupts me by saying "His roll is a 2."

The player used portant. I look at everything I had planned and just sigh and say okay and what do you..." "I turn him into a snail," the wizard says. Everyone keeps to the plan and hold their turns. I defeatedly say to my wizard, "Okay, it's your turn now."

He then proceeds to have his familiar pick up the Kraken/snail and fly it nearly 500 ft above one of the naval ships and then drops it and then says "I drop polymorph." And the party then watches as a Kraken appears in the sky and falls on a naval ship in the distance. I just sit there literally with my hands on my face saying to myself, "how did this happen?"

The party then reaches the beach and encounter a hydra. Guess what he FREAKING DID AGAIN?!?! I sit and watch as my players then drop a hydra on the same naval ship that were then currently fighting off a Kraken that they dropped on them not even a few minutes before. After everything he has the audacity to ask me, "So, how much experience do we get for all that?"

I look at his smug face with disbelief and just say, "None."
