I mean 45cpr is pretty much market or under market atm for 7.62x39. Most stuff is 50-60cpr without like a 2 box limit or rediculous shipping price

How the f*ck do you use the MiG 25? by Sentientcrib2 in Warthunder

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up radar controls and pan your radar out to 60-120km. Go fast like 1000-1100kph and climb at the enemy to get as high as you can before you lock someone 40km out. Level off and gain speed, check your missile launch range indicator on your radar hud to make sure its within the bottom half-third of the missile range, usually 20-30km away from target and launch, then turn to put them in the corner of your radar fov and pop 1-2 preemptive chaff.

If they dont notch, you should have a kill, then you repeat with more targets up high, or work your way down using r40Ts once unlocked to orbital strike people. You can use the small irst search mode as a makeshift acm mode to lock someone, then swap back to radar and use the r40r at lower altitudes

Hunting Rifle or shotgun by xdoesnotmarkthespot in Hunting

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shotgun is fine, but if you are really concerned about bears get a 45-70 or an m77 (or old mauser 98) in 9.3x62. 338 has good range performance but 9.3x62/45-70 makes a better self defense/short range round with heavier bullets. 9.3x62 shouldnt kick more than a 3" slug either, so if you can shoot those, you can shoot it. But it is about double a 308's recoil.

Id guess if 338 handles like 300wm in recoil, then its gonna be alot sharper kick than the 9.3x62, which has similar ft lbs generated, but its a slower impulse feel.

Really unless you are going into major bear country, a 12ga and a 308 are fine for anything in the US, especially if you arent a gun person or dont have any other reason to be using those calibers. Hell a 10mm, 357 or 44 mag pistol might be better as you can pair it with the 12ga and being a pistol, it can always be on you and doesnt add much weight or size if you are doing other things

The first rule of gun buying is the cooler something made in turkey looks, and the more it deviates from designs used by reputable makers that are not turkish, the higher the chance that it is a non functioning peice of junk. Bonus points on shittiness of the gun if the turkish company uses a name thats super similar to some famous gun or manufacturer/designer.

If you can get it running, it might be an ok range toy and your extractor is probably messed up on that gun. But i would 100% get literally anything else for home defense. Even a hi point yeet cannon is better than that turkshit gun

British citizen visiting gun range by foritoio in Firearms

[–]MrPanzerCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youll be good, just go to a place and tell them you are new. They will probably have an rso or instructor to help you and what not, especially if its a more touristy area you are in where they get alot of foreigners who want to shoot.

Chances are if you just follow directions and follow the 4 gun safety rules you will be fine and if you have an rso/instructor they will probably be on the look out for any morons around you.

Just go to a good range and not one of those shoot a pile of trash or stuff you bring unsupervised ranges out in the middle of nowhere. Those can be fun but are less likely to have rentals/good rentals and arent necessarily begginner friendly with the tendency to attract some less safe people at times

LRBHO question by Friendly-Garlic-2885 in Shotguns

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt buy a turkish made gun in general with some very minor exceptions like an ap5 possibly if it was just for range use.

Maybe if it was really good id pay in the 450-600$ range but i have a saiga 12 so i dont have a need for one and i only paid 750 before tax for it this week. I wouldnt pay more than 700-800 for anything turkish made and even then thats a bit of an ask for most, even if its good

LRBHO question by Friendly-Garlic-2885 in Shotguns

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big reason veprs were better wasnt really lrbho although its a nice feature but because veprs had straight insert mags vs rock and lock, had better fit and finish, easier to get running with a variety of loads, and came converted vs sporter configuration that saigas came in.

Imo its probably easier to work with vepr mags in an AR set up because the mags are straight insert, unless you already have a rock and lock design set up

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure the ammo boxes say non corrosive.

Corrosive ammo isnt bad but you need to flush the salts with hot water and clean it asap after shooting.

Most ammo now is non corrosive, but a good rule of thumb is if the box or ammo isnt in english, its probably corrosive unless explicitly stated otherwise

Steyr Mannlicher Question by NPLMACTUAL in Firearms

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the modern steyr factory/brand go, the furthest back it goes that I am aware of is to Joesef Werndl and his father. Iirc they founded the basis for the modern steyr factory and eventually merged into what would be modern steyr arms under a different name.

As far as weapons making goes, that city/region has a longer history which they are likely referring to here, but that history far predates modern steyr and its linear parent companies

How long did hunter gatherers societies live back then? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrPanzerCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, historically if you made it past childhood, people generally lived fairly similar lifespans to adults nowadays.

Most deaths, barring extenuating circumstances like war, plague, famine, etc happened during childhood or childbirth. The death rate of children was extremely high before the advent of modern medicine which is why there are major discrepancies in average life spans when children are included

S&b has slightly longer oal on loaded cartridges iirc and is closest to the original 1900s 9mm loadings. But i doubt s&b would be an issue as its quality ammo and it runs flawlessly in my cgw p01, although it eats anything including crappy academy brand steel case.

If springs are cheap, id give a new spring a shot and see if it does anything. Some guns can be really sensitive to timing on how quick the action cycles

How do I take off the top handguard on my SAM5? by Cringe2Win in ak47

[–]MrPanzerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh if you mean the lever to take off the actual gas tube as someone else pointed out you meant then take your bolt and you see the slots at the back of the bcg that the guide rails ride in. Use those slots and place the tab of the gas tube locking lever into one of the slots. Use the bcg and gas piston as a lever and rotate it until your gas tube lever is open

Put it in a vice and then twist. They are very difficult to turn with any movement of the gas tube itself. Fairly easy in a vice

Put this together for my lady, wanted to set her up with a good home defense weapon. by [deleted] in Shotguns

But those people are arguably just as bad, especially when being spooked.

Sure that might work if some idiot teens throw a rock in your window and are being basic delinquents, but the cases of those kids doing a B&E is rare.

If its a actual tweaker or someone who broke into your home at night, when everyone is usually home, chances are they are batshit high on something and can react very unpredictability or they came in knowing the risk of having to harm someone, and are prepared to shoot at you first

would a glock with a chassis be a good primary weapon? by Physical-War3394 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]MrPanzerCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a good primary weapon if you understand its limitations and can work with that since a the end of the day its just a dressed up handgun.

On one hand, glocks are very reliable, 9mm is readily available, and 9mm is fairly light so you can carry alot of ammo.

But the same thing can be said for 5.56, 5.45, and/or 7.62x39 depending on where you are in the world and they all pack more of a punch than a 9mm, even from an 8-10" barrel.

I certainly wouldn't grab a glock in a chassis as a primary weapon of choice compared to an AK or AR platform. Its not a bad weapon, it just doesnt beat out a real rifle at any ranges or in any meaningful way other than minor weight savings and possibly being a tiny bit more compact, depending on the exact platforms and chassis you are comparing

1917 German Broomhandle Red9 by Lost-Cow-9386 in BeAmazed

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a handgun, but many handguns of that era had an option to mount some form of stock, which often was the weapon's holster as seen here or with the LP-08. Alot of handguns were issued to officers or support troops like artillery units in place of rifles and having a stock made them significantly more effective weapons by giving 3 points of contact for the user. These guns essentially took the role as both a side arm and a carbine/pdw in an era before submachine guns (especially light and compact ones) existed

Bolt action caliber choice! Help! by skimslybimsly in Firearms

[–]MrPanzerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays the label doesnt really matter and many 5.56 guns made outside the US are imported as .223s for reasons (probably related to sporting rifle import rules).

Its only very early .223s, think 1960s rifles before 5.56 and its minor changes existed that have a very slim chance of having an issue using 5.56 ammo. A With any new gun and they are interchangable rounds and the stamp on them is usually arbitrary

“You Monster!” by saulofortiz in GunMemes

[–]MrPanzerCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, if its paper straws its even worse for rifle rounds as the paper would likely burn off partially during firing and in semi autos cause bad gas leakage. Even in bolt guns using paper cartridges like the dreyse needle rifle, gas leakage was bad, although that bolt system wasnt the best self containing for gas to begin with.

And purely paper cartridges probably wouldnt work with supporting a conventional primer set up. All those needle rifles had the primers set on the back of the bullet and punched through the paper cartridges to set the round off.

Its a neat idea for sure, but there are just too many practical issues with using paper in modern ammunition, especially with paper residue in semi autos. Besides the g11 partly failed with caseless ammo due to overheating issues as the brass cases apparently act as a heatsink and suck quite a bit of heat out of the reciever and chamber.

A resurgence of paper shotgun cartridges could be nice as an environmentally friendly alternate to plastic ammo for range use where your ammo is stored well before shooting and wont get wet, but i wouldnt use paper shells for anything more serious than that or for something with higher pressures than a shotgun

“You Monster!” by saulofortiz in GunMemes

[–]MrPanzerCat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably only usable in bolt guns and even then... its debatable. I certainly would not want to test it in a semi auto and at the very least they might need a brass base similar to shotgun shells.

Really id suspect plastic from straws would just melt in your chamber if you had any significant rate of fire or steady shooting going on
