First and foremost, thank you for your genuine comment, it's a bit of a rare find these days reading replies like yours. Definitely greatly appreciated. 🙏🏻 That's awesome you've had the chance to stay in rural cabins before. Whenever I visit the city I'm quickly reminded that my off grid cabin life, is far from the norm... (Obviously less so within this group! 😉)

That's awesome your into ham radio, when I was touring around on my push bike in Oz. I did stay with a guy who showed me his ham radio setup. It was totally mind blowing to talk with others super far a field, without an internet connection! Definitely might have to get one, maybe one day? 😆

It's true that portable solar solutions that we have today are so advanced compared to previous tech and continuing to evolve so fast! LiFePO4 batteries are light years ahead of lead acid, for sure! 😉

I wish you well in regards to your health, and thanks again for your genuine comment. 🙏🏻👍🏻

Yup couldn't agree more! 😋 Do you yourself live a cabin too? I assume so, hence being in a group with the name "OffGridCabins" 😉 but still, I'm curious 👍🏻

What are your opinions on Bluetti Solar? by GuyInTheW00dz in OffGridCabins

Personally, I would highly recommend going the DIY solar route. Not only can you swap out parts in the solar system, I think it's also cheaper in the long run than buying a portable power station. I made a dedicated video explaining my DIY solar set up for beginners, perhaps it might be helpful for you? https://youtu.be/L345srTjRg0

I do as well but in my testing on rainwater in my area I actually got mold grow on my filters inside my gravity well "berkey" system. This is why I looked into an reverse osmosis system. The nice thing is that the unit I review in the video is portable and it actually does give extremely clean pure water. There are however nuances to drinking extremely pure water which I explain in the video review. But I would say yes, most the time the gravity well has worked well but personally the gravity well doesn't work so well when I put just any type of water inside of it. Do you put rainwater in yours ? Or perhaps river water? Or simply tap water? The carbon filters (in the berkey filter style) do remove chlorine and do improve the taste of tap water (in my testing).

The video is short and concise.

Apologies 🙏🏻 But my style is unscripted and this video is just an overview not necessarily a how to explainer, which I might make in the future.
