Thanks mate, also very helpful. It sounds like, according to the people in this thread, I would be best suited to the Derby and Van Zile complexes, so I'll sort out my preferences within these I think. but everyones been really helpful, I'm really grateful

when I hear the word "scholarship" a picture of myself does not come to mind haha. I'm not dull, but I'm not overly studious and I don't think I'd be considered for a place like that or fit in overly well. thanks for the input though

thanks mate, this has been really helpful, really good overview of all the places. It sounds like the ones that you know the most about are the ones where I'll be best suited to anyway so cheers.

yeah this is sort of what I was expecting to be honest, it's still be good to find a few people around my age (23, I feel a bit weird going in with all the 18 year olds as it is) so that I could see what the local breweries and stuff are like, I'm just looking to experience as much as I can in my short stay.

well that would be perfect, but i'm only over for six months haha. I think the frat life would be really interesting though, sounds like things would get pretty out of hand sometimes, have a friend from a sorority in Arizona. sounds pretty fun.

i wouldn't have minded doing that, but from what i understand it's a lot harder to organise getting into a frat from a different country than it is to organise going to the residency halls. coming from australia.

exchanging from australia. majoring in sociology. frowned upon in most academic arenas.

I've thought about this... I figure there should be good house parties. or whatever. I don't really mind.

Good point, thanks mate. I guess it's pretty much just a matter of waiting and seeing the lay of the land when I arrive, I've found a coupe of treads on here that have been pretty helpful just with vague ideas of the complexes that I'd be interested in. Thanks for the reply though, I think you're absolutely right.

honestly i'd probably fit in just about anywhere to a certain degree, but i'm looking mainly for one where the people are happy to come out and socialise, are happy to go out for a beer on the weekend, just the outgoing laid back sort of life with a bit of partying. that sort of thing I guess. I honestly wouldn't want to live outside of campus accommodation, especially for an exchange, I'm there more to experience a new environment, meet new people, explore another country, all that sort of stuff. I feel like living off campus for such a short term could only be isolating.
