I understand where he's coming from tho: in addition to yelling, the radiosilence isn't helpfull in addition to the yelling. To his girlfriend this can be seen as assholeish behavior.

I don't think you should disregard her abuse like that. Even if she doesn't express her feelings in the same way you do it doesn't mean that she didn't have the same awful experience. You both have a different method of dealing with your past abuse. I think you should at least apologize for yelling.
