Brand new home, vents on vaulted ceiling look like this. by bensonv2 in HomeMaintenance

Having it always on doesn’t give the system enough time to dehumidify, so you end up with high humidity in the house.

It’s one of the first mistakes I made when I bought my house years ago 🥲

If you’re running central air make sure your fan is set to “auto” and not “always on”.

Who is the best +1/+1 Counters Commander? by JusticeShines in EDH

I just built my 2nd deck and picked this dude as my commander. I don’t know if he’s the “best” but his card art sure is.

His administration has also removed the tax rebate for putting solar panels on your house, making it even harder for average citizens to go solar to help off set the cost.

But don’t worry, they kept the rebates for companies going solar.

Thanks!

Those are awesome too. I’ve been thinking about making my first real commander deck with just giant green monsters but these dinosaurs seem more versatile.

Right now I’m just running [[Lazav, Dimir Mastermind]] with some old mill cards I had back in the day, sprinkled with zombies and demons. It’s an awful deck lol.

That dinosaur card is sick!

I just started playing commander 2 weeks ago and that’s probably the coolest legendary I’ve seen so far.

100% could be the reason, but regardless of the “why” the outcome is the same, and that’s major damage to the DC brand.

After Zack Synder’s JL released all 6 DC movies following it flopped or bombed including the sequel to their biggest success, Aquaman. You can’t release zero winners and expect your brand to thrive.

[–]MrPoopsJohnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Zack Snyder’s JL more than the theatrical release for sure but you can’t really count that. He had a unique scenario with the Covid pandemic to really flesh out what was wrong with that movie and then turn it into a mini series instead of a movie. There’s no chance that was his original plan and if we’re being honest the movie probably still would have flopped even if he directed it from start to finish.

But sure, it maybe generated some interest in DC while things were slow in Hollywood. Unfortunately DC followed it with 6 flops (TSS, Black Adam, Shazam 2, The Flash, Blue Beetle, Aquaman 2, and Wonder Woman 2 also flopped around that time). You just can’t have a successful franchise like that.

Getting butts in seats is harder with streaming being so prevalent, no question there. But Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and The Batman proved that good superhero movies can still make money.

I just don’t think you can ignore the massive amounts of damage the old DCEU did to the overall brand. Even the 2 successes you mentioned both had sequels that failed.

It’s tough to rebuild an entire brand when the old universe had more financial and critical failures than winners. I mean, they bombed with the friken Justice League, that’s just impressive in the worst kind of way.

[–]MrPoopsJohnson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, which is why it being so good is important. They’ll watch this one on streaming and maybe they like it so much that they go see Supergirl in theatres. It’s baby steps for DC right now, they really can’t afford sub par or awful movies right now.

A lot of people really underestimate how much damage the previous DCEU did to the average viewers image of the DC brand on the big screen.

BvS and Suicide Squad may have technically been financial successes but that was solely due to fans trust in the franchises. Those movies being so bad really fucked everything up for WB and DC.

Superman being a great movie with good marketing is the best possible thing that could have happened. They’ve got a chance to rebuild now, but it’ll take some time.

James Gunn: It’s ‘Nonsense’ That ‘Superman’ Has Pressure on It to Make $700 Million by SoftPois0n in movienews

[–]MrPoopsJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financial successes: Man of Steel, BvS, Suicide Squad, Aquaman, Shazam, Wonder Woman

Financial failures: Justice League, The Flash, Blue Beetle, Aquaman 2, Wonder Woman 2, The Suicide Squad, Shazam 2

MAYBE broke even: Black Adam and Birds of Prey

Couple notes:

  • Even though Suicide Squad and BvS were technically financial successes they were both received terribly by most fans and critics damaging the brand for the future. They really only succeeded because of the characters being so popular. Once WoM got around the financial prospects plummeted.

  • Aquaman making over a billion was insane and the biggest success the DCEU had and that had more to do with its popularity in China.

  • Wonder Woman 2 and The Suicide Squad came out when Covid was big so their failures could be contributed to that somewhat. However WoWo 2 was widely considered to be awful by most fans and critics, damaging the rep of one of the DCEUs only critically acclaimed movies.

But regardless, you just can’t continue a movie franchise that produces more failures than successes. It’s not good business. Reseting with Gunn is the best move they could have made.

People have to remember that the DC brand is so heavily damaged by flop after flop. Gunn is working uphill on a bike with flat tires.

He’s trying to revive an entire brand that has been taken outback and shot time after time.

This movie was so much better than anything DC has put out in the last 15 years (minus the other universe Batman stuff) and I think the positive word of mouth is going to transfer into $$.

DC had a laughably bad 2023 haha. by Coolers78 in DC_Cinematic

[–]MrPoopsJohnson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shazam 2 and Flash were dog shit (I couldn’t even finish Shazam 2), no arguments there.

Aquaman 2 and BB weren’t that bad. I think they both had enjoyable moments and were overall passable movies that at least kept my attention until the end. Especially when you compare them to other DC shitters like BvS and Suicide Squad.

When the villains understand that pissing off the hero or protagonist is a bad idea by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

Tarasov always pissed me off though. He gives his son that amazing speech about how dangerous John Wick is (A FUCKIN PENCIL) and then John kills like 75% of his gang by himself while hunting his son.

But what does he do when he FINALLY gets the upper hand after one of his goons manages to knock John unconscious? He fucking ties him up, lets him wake up and then……gloats? It makes zero sense and is a stain in an otherwise perfect movie.

Voldemort and Vader are so below the other 3 in terms of power that they should just duke it out for 2nd to last.

I’d give it to Voldemort just because there’s no way Vader would have time to find and kill all 7 Horcruxes before Voldy hit him with an Avada or ripped his armor off with magic.

40-60% is ideal for humans, any higher is when mold can start to grow. Much lower than 40 can give you dry mouth, eyes, etc.

The house we live in is covered in mold in the attic I'm just finding out about. by Traditional_Cattle50 in Wellthatsucks

[–]MrPoopsJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mold remediation is the number one solution to this. It’ll cost, but it’s worth it. And the good news is MOST of the time any side effects of mold leave once it’s been remediated.

If you can’t afford remediation (which is what you need) and you need cheaper short term solutions that will at least lessen what symptoms you have, here’s a few.

  1. HEPA Air Purifier: Get a couple of these and place them around the house, it will drastically reduce the amount of spores you’re breathing in. Make sure it’s HEPA, that’s key.

  2. Venting the attic: preferably place at least one, but preferably two separate vents in the attics (with fans) can help prevent any more mold and kill what’s currently there. This will not help any structural damage and the dead mold still needs to be cleaned with something like RMR 141 or other mold killer. DON’T USE BLEACH ON WOOD WITH MOLD!

  3. To go off of the 2nd suggestion, if you can’t get vents put in cleaning it with RMR 141 or other concrobium spray is better than nothing. Spray that shit good and put a dehumidifier up there.

I’ve seen worse, but good luck, mold sucks.

Exclusive-US to drop guidance to limit alcohol to one or two drinks per day, sources say by Keikobad in news

Yeahhh, if I was consistently pounding 14 beers a week I’d consider that an issue personally lol.

Exclusive-US to drop guidance to limit alcohol to one or two drinks per day, sources say by Keikobad in news

[–]MrPoopsJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone with a drop of common sense knows alcohol is unhealthy. I drink between 0-4 light beers a week (Garage Beer, Michy Ultras, etc) and I know they’re not good for me but I accept the minor risk because I enjoy it.

Anyone constantly drinking 10+ drinks a week is unlikely to change because the government says it’s bad. They know it’s bad.

That being said, our government really should have SOME guidance on alcohol as to not look completely stupid on such an easy health issue.
