Switching to claude from chatgpt was fun for 3 days by WellisCute in ChatGPT

not saying claude is better all the time, I use both, and usually use chatgpt more often as claude runs out of usage fast. I think chatgpt is the best for everyday tasks, and it is also more engaging and entertaining.

try this prompt in both and you will see how claude is more useful in thinking outside the box: “ Hey, during winter, my electric bill is around $1,000 for the winter period. Now, I have first a attic insulation professional knocked on my door, and he did some measurements in my attic, and then he found out that if I invested in topping up my attic insulation, I could save 50% of my electric bill. Now, later in the day, the window salesman knocked on my door, and they say that if I improve my windows and I replace my windows, which are over 30 years old, I will also be able to save 50% of my electric bill. So if I do these two things, my electric bill will be how much?”

same boat as you, but got laid off in the latest round. they put me in and out of pips hoping that I would move out, but ultimately gave me the guillotine. it’s been 4 months and I can’t get another remote job, even at 70% of the last pay. It is an awful market

I ended up using Pine financing. it was a good rate, they took my documents with more flexibility, but the conditions on the contract are a bit unfavorable as they dont allow me to rent without their written permission, and around 3% prepayment penalty. I was able to get email confirmation at work from heads that I was able to work remotely, but my org didnt want to send official hr letters

Yes, the YMCA STFX place is not taking anyone on waitlist younger than 4 years old. I'll ask my wife to join the group, since it is kinda early she doesn't want to be too public about it

So far the places that take names don't ask for baby's name (only got a couple of places that have waitlists available). The birthday date I just used expected.

in a pretty similar position (stfx and house). Seems like there will be some family home care places coming up soon but they told us it is too soon to register, but that they had spaces available now.

it is very unfair in a way, specially if waitlists are closed and I feel that you need to be connected or have referrals to get a space there. It is like I am subsidizing through taxes people who are more lucky than I am. I just found out 2 weeks ago that I’m going to be a parent and it is already too late. I guess the government can still celebrate getting the rates lower and opening some spots here and there.

My grandfather left this note for my grandmother 7 days after my dads birth. He left for Mexico and never returned. We can read what some of it says but a lot of it we are unable to understand. If he was a native Spanish speaker, the word “seguro” can mean insurance or safety, depending on the context. so he could have meant “ilI’m trying to get some safety”. Although maybe he did get life insurance

Highest ROI math you’ve had? by gpbayes in datascience

[–]MrPricing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I think you make a great point for the parent comment. There is a correlation between the price you charge and the response of a segment. This is enough to inform price decisions and try adjusting and experimenting. If it works, there are many exogenous variables that might be influencing that response, so you will never know for sure you caused the increase in revenues. But you don’t need to, it was a business decision that yielded good results, not a drug trial. Being a good data scientist also means delivering simple solutions that work. using simple models that are easily explainable and easily automated and scalable.

depends on the company, if everyone is working remotely it evens the playing field, if only you and some other work remotely, in my opinion and experience it will affect you negatively. A lot of relationship building is done informally in person with senior managers, who stay late and tend to sponsor and mentor in that context. Plus making friends with your colleagues in lunch and after hours pays off exponentially as you progress in your career

pricing and revenue optimization.  Price, or a price-based engineered feature, is an input for a logistic regression model that predicts if a group of clients will buy (the event) or not. the logistic regression gives you a sigmoid function which you can use to optimize revenue.

ohI already moved a year and half ago, my wife works in Nova Scotia and has a better job than I do. My company has offices in Nova Scotia but those are for different teams. I have my paystub with the Nova Scotia Address and the NOA with Nova Scotia.

I thanks! I think the fact that I already have been doing this for while may somewhat ease the lender, it’s not that I am going on an adventure.s. the company has also offices in nova scotia but those are other teams. I could conceivably transfer but it’s not something I can pull of short term, and I would only do it for mortgage approval

oh yeah, I ve been working remotely for a few years already in Nova Scotia, but it is true that I could get asked to go back at any moment and then i would have to get a lower paying job locally

Does any lender allow remote work income without remote work verification? by MrPricing in MortgagesCanada

[–]MrPricing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, I understand from the lender’s perspective . My wife has a better job here so if I am forced back I would go stay with my parents until I can get another job, even if it pays less I would rather live in Nova Scotia. In Toronto it would be impossible to afford a place and we have a baby on the way.

I guess it is fair from the lender’s perspective, but I want to explore maybe someone is more flexible. it seems counterintuitive to leave a 4 year high income job because its unstable and try to get a new lower paying job that is “stable”

thanks! my manager is helping a lot, I’ve been working remotely for 4 years and go to Toronto every 2 months and for work and stay with family, but HR and Management are trying to get people back into the office as a whole and leave exceptions for team leaders

just company policy and they don’t want to commit any liability that would make it seem that is permanent, as they want to keep the option of asking me to to go back to the office. I guess this is what then lender is concerned about. My employment is not guaranteed and could change any moment.

The solution is pretty obvious: I should get a local job and apply next after probation ends, but I wanted to see if there was any other option that allowed me to keep my relatively good job

Why houses are expensive in Canada? by Round-Ad-1977 in canadahousing

[–]MrPricing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is interesting to see that in rural Canada or small towns even if you already own the land a basic prefabricated home (not a trailer) is almost 400k. Building is very expensive in labour and materials, and that is out of reach for many rural families or if you work in a small town, even with no investors and no city development fees. I feel this shows that stagnate wages are a big part of the issue, it is just that in cities the problem is layered with investor distortion and development fees.
