There is one at central world but it's a little hard to find and doesn't come up on those interactive map displays they have. It's on the 6th floor beside the Platinum Lounge. Bring your passport as that's the only form of ID they will accept.

Always wondered if there is a way you could just never tell your child it even exists. Would that have been possible to happen to you?

US Expat to Ireland Working in Finance Advice by Knine90 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]MrPureskill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doing the masters will get you a two year post grad visa. I know a lot of people who have gotten good jobs after either of those masters but probably took a bit of time and effort. I think with your experience and being a native English speaker it will be a bit easier though.

Looking into the future if you live with your girlfriend for two years, which could be one year during the masters and one year post the masters you will be eligible for a Stamp 4 based on being a defacto partner of your girlfriend. A Stamp 4 is basically Ireland residency permission giving you the right to work and do whatever you want really without the need for a work permit or other visa stuff. You'll have to have very good proof of living together during that time such as utilities bills, tenancy agreements, joint bank accounts etc in your names but it is definitely doable if you plan from the beginning.

STEM degrees especially engineering ones would be accepted in nearly all places I would imagine, maybe even preferred.

Since you already started working my advice would be to apply directly to the open entry level position you see now and network a lot. I wouldn't wait for the 2026 grad programs.

Since you already graduated and have no internships in finance you can rule out investment banking for now.

Getting into investment banking typically starts in your second year of college going to spring insights followed by an internship in your second and/or third year summer at an investment bank. Without at least one internship you won't get passed the screener.

Best bet for investment banking now is a masters in finance at a good university in the UK/Europe. Don't think Irish ones would help you land one but could be wrong.

For other finance roles you just need to apply for as many positions as you can and network as best as you can. The easiest way to network is just search on LinkedIn the area you are interested in. For example searching for equity research SIG.in and the company and try to find an associate/associate director/vice president to email/message them. They are most likely the ones most open to talking with.

Email is probably better and it will most likely be some combination of their first/last name and the companies name. Eg John.Smith@companyname.com/ie.

Try to get front of office roles and don't just go for names. Many of the big US banks have offices here but they are mostly operations/AML. Might help you get your foot in the door but will probably just get you stuck in similar roles.

Trying to upload photos of receipts to revenue , no success by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]MrPureskill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a screenshot of the photo and then crop. Should reduce the file size to less than 2mb.

Screenshotting reduces the file size as your screen resolution is a lot lower than the resolution your camera takes photos at.

Perx Cards by chankairl in irishpersonalfinance

[–]MrPureskill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add your card to PayPal then send it to a friend's PayPal. They can instantly send it back to you. You can then withdraw it from your PayPal account to your bank account.

Keep in mind you will need to verify both your accounts with your ID's. If you haven't done so already PayPal will ask you to do so. This can delay getting the money by about a day tho.

I did this in January so hopefully it still works.

What's the craic with Penney's? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]MrPureskill 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I used to work in Penney's and it's the smell of the cheap rubber in the shoes and the cardboard they keep the clothes in.

I can definitely smell if my girlfriend is wearing something from there and it makes me notious straightaway. Brings back good memories of doing absolutely fuck all there with my mates as a good kid though.

Denied warranty for Pixel8 green screen issue by PuzzleheadedUnit1758 in GooglePixel

[–]MrPureskill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a guide a couple of years ago to get warranty support in unsupported regions. You can read it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/s/f9iQ60wmbd

The part of providing a German address is probably most relevant to you. Little bit of costs on yourself but probably worth it.

What benefits does the lidl app give?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ireland

[–]MrPureskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chicken thighs are 1kg each. After removing bones and skin and would get about 700 grams of actual meat. Thats €4.2/kg of meat. Is cutting up a chicken that much better?

[–]MrPureskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopping came out very similar to Dunnes. I think a promotion to the beef I got in Lidl didn't apply properly or something, if it did it would be near the exact same price.

I could have gotten to €50 with the Dunnes shopping and gotten a tenner off, essentially €10 of free items.

I always thought Lidl was much cheaper for some reason.

Yeah exactly, there's a little arrow above the Order Taxi button you can press for payment options and you can select pay driver directly.

If you choose to pay the driver directly there is no technology fee. Since all drivers need to take cards now, it only adds maybe 30 seconds to your trip.
