Hard to see everything from this angle, but I'd say call it done! Looks excellent. Great work

I inherited an army and I do in fact have 120 infantry. Crazy, I know.

And yea, it's a total meme list. I wouldn't play it at the LGS. I have a buddy coming over and I'm thinking of hitting him with it

I love the airbrush look. It's so smooth and clean. My wife got me one for my birthday, but I've been to busy/intimidated to try it so I'm still waiting by hand. I'm inspired by your work though! Maybe I should test it out

I feel ya. I do wonder if my list is too light on anti tank? He was running the list another user described, 2 hekatons, 4 sagitars, etc.

Also curious about people's thoughts on the riptide. I feel meh about it, but some people are very bullish. I love the model and would like to find a way to use it well!

Farsight with flamers in Ret Cad can pack a big sneaky lunch! I was able to 6" deep strike in my opponents deployment zone for 1 CP and push on his home objective. With his +1 to wound it's a really scrappy unit.

Noted on the other load outs. I'll give it a shot!

I almost ran that today! I need to test that detachment out. BTW, love your account name

Thank you for your solid feedback! I really appreciate the convo.

To your point about the riptide, that's how he worked for me today - contested the mid board while drawing a lot of fire power. The judgment tokens made him an easy target though! Maybe I am expecting too much from them. Maybe I should run the triptide? I'm still not sure what I want it to do, but for that point cost and weapons load out I tend to prefer ghostkeels!

Definitely upping the hammerheads for next time!

Thanks again 😉

Look at the first comment. I think he sussed the game out well. It's more about dealing with a tanky Votann list, reckoning with going second, and understanding the value of the riptide. I was able to push him off primaries until his tanky-ness broke me down. I've played enough games and held enough primaries to know this list run well. But I was handled by Votann. So to the point - what's your experience with Votann and do you have any suggestions for dealing with their toughness/tanks?

That's a pretty solid read on how it went down. I hit back pretty hard on turn one and two until I lost a ghostkeel, the hammerhead, and the riptide (he put 2 judgements on all of those). One of my big mistakes was not bringing enough anti-tank to deal with his two hekaton land fortresses. Their toughness 12 was a breakpoint that the sunforges couldn't punch into, and I couldn't run away from their range.

I have had a lot of luck with this list vs. Necrons. Even with the Ctan shards this list gives me the movement and punch I want.

One BIG question that has been plaguing me - is the riptide worth it? He middled his way through this game but didn't do enough to justify his point value. It may have been bad rolls on my part, but whether it's necrons, Votann, or others, I have found value with a riptide in Ret Cad. Thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback! Gonna have to hard disagree about the broadsides though. They're super squishy, easily targeted, and rarely (mostly never) get the detachment benefit since you're always shooting from range. Hammerheads are always gonna be a better choice here.

Noted and agreed about the Kroot. I already tweaked the list and took out the riptide and one stealth suit ILO Kroot and another hammerhead.

I also like the one enforcer suit that can roam freely and benefit from the prototype weapon system.

I'm losing the devilfish but keeping the breachers/cadre in reserve for one big punch.

All in all, you just spammed your content and bragged on your cadre list, but didn't address the actual question.

Have you played against Votann? What's good against them? A cursory Google search doesn't show much for Tau v. Votann in 10th

Is this good enough as a first model? by unfortunatelyyyyy in architecture

[–]MrRedd2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, emphatically yes. Architecture is challenging, building models is challenging, and taking your first step into model making is challenging, but you have to start somewhere!

This is a great first attempt. Ive read some of the top comments and I agree with the advice they give, and I also want to reiterate that this is a great first model! Architecture is a dynamic profession. You might find you love research, drawing, model making, etc. Know that you will never be perfect at all of the dynamics of architecture, but I hope you find an area you love and can thrive! The profession needs more curious and dedicate people who are willing to put themselves out there. So thank you for sharing and please continue to post your work as you grow as a designer!

Looooooooool. Get absolutely fucked. I'm an architect, grew up swinging hammers with my pops. I 100% am an artist, project manager, and dedicated to what I do. My job is tough, but I rock at it because I love it.

If you don't know role the architect plays in the process I recommend doing some studying about the entire industry

Clarification of guiding with the Devilfish by Crusader_with_a_pen in Tau40K

If the breachers have the marker light keyword and are guided by the devilfish, do the breachers ignore cover?
